pm | Site struggling ? * THIS IS NOT A FAKE MESSAGE (31st Oct 17 at 8:27am UTC) Problems accessing our forum | | FORUM not loading Browsers - IE and Firefox
We have a small but active forum which has been in existence for a number of years. In the last few weeks it have been getting more and more difficult to get into it. It either hangs or just refuses to load. Is there a problem with the vforums set-up now ? I am aware the support site does not seem very active nowadays either.
I do hope vforums days are not numbered as a provider. Please advise. Thank you.

Problem:
Thanks for replies Ross - I know how frustrating it can be when a PC goes down.
Validation key emails were not reaching anyone with a hotmail address including me as of 16.15hrs today - new members just not being able to complete their registration after being enabled by committee member.
I have just changed my email address to my office address and "Eureka", validation key came through straight away and I am now back on as administrator in my own profile - thanks.
I am contacting any new member with a hotmail address to try an alternative email address so hopefully on the road to solving the issue.
Appreciate your support mate.
Kind regards, Peter | |

Hi Ross Sorry to jump in here - we find it difficult to contact VForum support (site not user friendly)
We are also not getting any validation key emails on our forum (http://bridgwaterhog.vforums.co.uk/) and it has locked me out as administrator despite everything correct on my profile
Incorrect emails are also appearing against members
Can you help us please - we can not get new members onto the Forum and I am having to use another members profile to administer the site.
My contact details are:
Name - Peter Parkes (I am the Forum Administrator)
Email - tiffin.1@hotmail.co.uk
Hoping to hear from you,
Kind regards
Peter

pmwwwgtalkvForum | | Re: Is VF still going strong? (23rd Aug 12 at 10:32pm UTC) | | I would say that the popularity of any forum is not related to the popularity of other forums using the same service. A good forum should be able to stand on its own. So I would suggest paying little attention to the forum directory which is way overdue a revamp. As for the stability of vForums as a service, although new forum signups are currently disabled there is no way that the existing forum hosting that we provide will stop. There are a number of forums with high traffic levels using our service, it just so happens that they don't need to come here for support.

pm | | Is VF still going strong? (23rd Aug 12 at 7:01pm UTC) | | | I've browsed some forums in the directory, and haven't found all that many that are active. I've also noticed the support forum is pretty dead, not even the staff are all that active. Ross (I think that's his name) is the only one who really logs on and does anything. I was planning to create a new VF, but..I don't wanna put all that work into it if VF is basically dead.

Also add these into your contacts: communication@virtualforums.co.uk, noreply@virtualforums.co.uk, notification@virtualforums.co.uk
Then click on resend key. ----- edit: I have made an account, and I have all of that done, but I don't receive it either. It must be an issue on their end.
edit2: You might want to just disable validation for now, until Ross can have a look.
edit 3:
You should have gotten the emails quite late. lol. It does seem that the email server is running slow.

I didn't remove any coding and guests can only see this now.

Instead of this

Guests can still see open forums. Do you think this is ok as I don't want to breach my user licence?
Thanks again. | |

Problem:
It seems this same person is able to register again and again. It's a spam account, and I keep on banning and deleting them. I'm using the vForums register system after I figured out how they are using the API register page on my site to get around. they still are able to register.
http://mirrorimg.net/im1/gb5.jpeg
I am not understanding this at all. I don't want to limit sign ups or anything, but how is this person able to do this?
I did change the permissions on my register.php so I don't see them still able to use that page...

pmwwwgtalkvForum | | Re: VForums Support info center code not working (21st Dec 11 at 7:35pm UTC) | | Hi,
That code seems to be working on my test forum.
If you already had an info centre template created, you may need to set the template priorities so that the old one is only enabled on a specific skin or is disabled altogether. If that doesn't resolve the issue you can send your forum URL in PM then I can take a look at it for you?
