Problem:

So, I usually come back to my forums for nostalgia purposes. So I do NOT delete any forums at all. This particular forum I remember working really hard on it, graphics wise. I know I definitely did NOT delete it. I know it's far fetched to probably get an answer by now? But, if it could possible be brought back. That would be great! ALL my other forums are there, except this one. Not sure if someone gained control over the forum by cracking my password, but apparently someone must have deleted it....

Thanks!
Nick

Site struggling ? * THIS IS NOT A FAKE MESSAGE (31st Oct 17 at 8:27am UTC)
Problems accessing our forum
FORUM not loading
Browsers - IE and Firefox

We have a small but active forum which has been in existence for a number of years. In the last few weeks it have been getting more and more difficult to get into it. It either hangs or just refuses to load. Is there a problem with the vforums set-up now ? I am aware the support site does not seem very active nowadays either.

I do hope vforums days are not numbered as a provider. Please advise. Thank you.

Is there a way for me to generate a validation key as forum administrator to solve this problem?

I still come on occasionally {Tongue Out} But rarely have time for logging in or posting messages.

The system does need bit of an overhaul, but if it'll ever get it I don't know - there's so many other systems in the queue for development already. I do have a fondness for the traditional message board structure so wouldn't think of anything deviating too far from that. It was the spam bots which really caused us some problems, and took a lot of time and resources to counter. They're the reason that new signups are still disabled.
There are some active vForums running still, but these tend to be the ones with well established communities, either private ones, small close-knit ones or those backed up by communities across other social media platforms.

So I come on here every so often, and become really sad. This place used to be the greatest I've ever been on. Ross never comes on, a few friends I made on here, we either stopped talking, or one of us fell off the planet.

Are there still any forums running on vForums anymore? :/

This service had great potential. {Sad}

Problem:

I am unable to login through API on idirectoryads.com I put in my username and password and it seems to not want to go anywhere. Nothing has been touched for awhile now. So there have been no recent changes to any coding, or API. I have to login through the site because that is where I can see any pending submissions to the directory.

Thank you,
Nick

Re: validation key (20th Jul 13 at 1:25am UTC)
Hello,

I have run some checks but it looks like validation keys are being sent out as expected. I have just triggered a new key to be sent to your e-mail for your account. Please ensure you check the junk/spam folder.
Unfortunately I know that hotmail has (in the past) rejected e-mails of this sort. If it does not come through, then is there another e-mail address you could try using? (You can change your e-mail address after attempting to log in by going to: http://bridgwaterhog.vforums.co.uk/action/validate)

Hi Ross Sorry to jump in here - we find it difficult to contact VForum support (site not user friendly)

We are also not getting any validation key emails on our forum (http://bridgwaterhog.vforums.co.uk/) and it has locked me out as administrator despite everything correct on my profile{Confused}

Incorrect emails are also appearing against members{Confused}

Can you help us please - we can not get new members onto the Forum and I am having to use another members profile to administer the site.

My contact details are:

Name - Peter Parkes (I am the Forum Administrator)

Email - tiffin.1@hotmail.co.uk

Hoping to hear from you,

Kind regards

Peter

Re: Is VF still going strong? (23rd Aug 12 at 10:32pm UTC)
I would say that the popularity of any forum is not related to the popularity of other forums using the same service. A good forum should be able to stand on its own. So I would suggest paying little attention to the forum directory which is way overdue a revamp.
As for the stability of vForums as a service, although new forum signups are currently disabled there is no way that the existing forum hosting that we provide will stop. There are a number of forums with high traffic levels using our service, it just so happens that they don't need to come here for support.

My site seems to have bots, but they seem to be intelligent. Look here for example: http://osusers.vforums.co.uk/board/mediacenter/topic/348/action/view_topic/-what-are-some-of-the-scariest-movies-you-recommen

I'm slightly confused by it. Are they bots or humans? They all seem to have different types of odd advertisements in the signature, yet they are talking intelligently. {Confused}

Thanks for your patience guys :-)
We've just run a purge of these spam accounts, at least the ones we're aware of, from all forums across the system. If anyone sees one of these accounts registered somewhere or posting on their forum then you can drop the IP address into this topic and I can have the databases searched for any other accounts registering or posting via the same IP. We will beat them!

We will deal with the rest of them soon enough - as of now, the accounts that had actually posted spam have been banned.
