Life on Mars? (26th Jan 08 at 1:46am UTC)
Many people have wondered if there is life on mars. Is this finally proof that there is life on the red planet? Quote: The image was among many sent back to Earth by Spirit, Nasa's Mars explorer vehicle which landed there four years ago. Initial inspections revealed nothing unusual, but closer examination by amateur astronomers has thrown up this intriguing picture. Do you think this is real proof or not? Others may well feel that it is simply an optical illusion caused by a landscape. What is your opinion? Source

It looks like it could go both ways. It looks like a rock and it does look like a life form. Its hard to say though.

I won't comment based on internet pictures, as their validity can never be fully proved. I wish I could find a way to go to space though.

At first I thought this thread would be about the TV show The first picture does look like a figure in the distance. But when it's zoomed in you can see that the "figure" is attached to the rock and as such is just that, a piece of rock.

Apart from the shape, the thing I find strange is that the figure is green, when yet the rock it's "attached" to is blue.

If you've ever downloaded one of the actual rover images, you'll see that they're hundreds of megabytes, sometimes gigabytes in size. The picture would not be blurred upon zooming in if this was real.

I read somewhere that the picture they discovered it on was one of those photos - hundreads of Megs, but they can't really put that up online anywhere as people trying to download it would bust their bandwidth
