exactly, I don't think a bot would be able to pick the right one unless you use alts with the name of the shapes {Tongue Out}

Again, not hard for a bot to figure out. {Wink}

For fairly small sites, these things would be alright, because bot writers wouldn't bother changing their bots around for it; but for a forum system, bot writers would want to get through, so that they could spam up the site, lowering it's reputation. It would take a bot writer probably 5 minutes to make the bot read the colour. {Wink}

Question. Is it possible to make one without using audio that would be unsolvable by bots? Can't the bot writers keep modifying their scripts to conform with the activation code? I know the one on Proboards doesn't work. I always see those reply's with like 1,000 links in it.

Need a Sig?

Unsolvable, no. Difficult to solve, yes.

For now, Captcha images really are the best. Maybe in the future, though, we'll all just have little Retinal scanners on our computers. {Wink}

As far as I can see, it's only not working for URLs with the www. portion in them. On the standard domain it loads and is read fine.

As for issues with reading it, there should be no 2 letters/numbers which look alike. For example, l, i and 1 aren't included because they can all look similar, same with o and 0. The valid options are:

23456789abcdefghmnpqrstuvwxyz

I have a guest that tried to join but cant, thats 3 people now that I had to register myself, in order for them to join my forum. There should be an easier way to do this. Make them bigger, and a bit easier to read/see.

The image doesn't seem to show up that well on dark backgrounds. I will look at ways to implement an alternative audio check and maybe sort out the issue on dark backgrounds.

Ross could it be temporarily removed - and a much easier alternative added?

Well I can see it just fine, and I use FF2, it seems to be opera, as I said before in a pm, and now AOL, but for the third person I am not sure, as they posted in the cbox on my forum.

The issue with dark backgrounds is now resolved making it much easier to read.
