Have you tried Audacity? I don't know if that's got enough features for what you're after but it's a decent bit of kit nonetheless {Smile}

Ay, Audacity is probably the best you can get for free. I've tried some paid ones, and none have had features that Audacity doesn't. {Wink}

How can you remove the voice, and keep the beat? on Audacity?

Re: Sound mixer? - Posted By tricky.cb (crazyblue) on 14th May 08 at 7:56pm
I don't think so unless you can get the type of music file that has the music layers.

Re: Sound mixer? - Posted By Nick (nickb) on 14th May 08 at 8:07pm
And how will I bee able to do that?

Pay $500 to the record company for the music without the voice? {Tongue Out}

There's no way to go about removing the singing while keeping the instrumentals.

Re: Sound mixer? - Posted By Nick (nickb) on 14th May 08 at 8:18pm
ok, I have then, I do have other ways of getting them.

I don't think that's entirely true. If a band records their song in studio, and they do each instrument individually then there has to be a file of the that piece of music that is done by music layers so one thing can be taken out, edited, etc.

Yes, but as far as I know layered files are never put into the public, thus the only [legal] option he has is to buy a licensed copy of it from the record company. {Wink}

ive downloaded instrumental songs before, I have one now, that I remixed with another song. I just wanted to know if Audacity could remove the voice.

Here is my remixed song along with the original:
Its Rap

Soulja Boy - iDance (original)
Soulja Boy - iDance (remix)

Let's add that TOS states no discussion of illegal activities/items! {Wink}

And of course im not doing anything illegal {Tongue Out} I pay for my P2P downloader (limewire) in which case is not illegal anyways.

Re: Sound mixer? - Posted By slip (slip) on 15th May 08 at 1:59pm
paying for a p2p downloader that is used for illegal downloading of music does not make piracy right. {Shocked}

You shouldn't be publically displaying pirated work. If at all you are playing around with this stuff, keep it for your personal use alone.

Re: Sound mixer? - Posted By Nick (nickb) on 15th May 08 at 4:37pm
How is it pirated? The song iDance is from Soulja Boy's Official MySpace. and the background sound of the remix is something my friend made and thats were I downloaded it from.

Re: Sound mixer? - Posted By slip (slip) on 15th May 08 at 5:37pm
The song may be available for download at the artist's myspace but it is still copyrighted to his record label. Remixing the track (in whatever fashion) and making it available (where it is redistributable) in public amounts to piracy. {Unsure}

Oh ok I see. If you want to remove it you can. I also sent it to him to see how it sounds to him.

Sorry, but due to the posting of copyrighted music links. I'm going to have to lock this! {Sad}
