Skin Removal (13th Oct 09 at 10:28am UTC)
A hybrid of skins after removal
Forum URL:http://etta.vforums.co.uk/
Experienced By:Me
Browser:Firefox
Operating System:Win 03

I decided to have a look at some skins before I moved my members from our old home to this forum. I managed to upload them easily and tired them out, but they weren't for us so I removed them.

I now have a hybrid of the default and Azure skins in the header section. I have logged out and back in, re-booted Firefox, removed cookies and deleted cashe.

I would be grateful if someone could advise me on how to resolve this.

Thank-you in advance

Codboy

Hi there

Are there any of the default skins you wish to have on the site? If so, we can install those for you!

Hi Graham,

I didn't have a problem installing the default skins, just had a problem with the complete removal. Thanks for the offer, but none of the default skins match the feel of the forum.

Re: Skin Removal - Done something daft (13th Oct 09 at 8:54pm UTC)
Okay, whilst trying to remove the traces of one of the default skins as described in this thread, I went into Admin and then Header and Footer and accidently deleated the contents under the global option.- I thought that it may solve my problem.

This has obviously removed the whole content of the forum.

So, is there anybody free to give me some serious help?

Thank-you
Codboy

Thank-you Darkmage,

Unfortunately, I get the following error message:

An Error Has Occurred
You have no additional skins to delete

Any other ideas?

Make a new skin, switch that new skin as the default, and repeat the steps I mentioned above. {Smile}

Okay. I have again successfully uploaded a skin. However, the forum content is still missing as reported in the thread.

I would like to return the forum skin to the default version without having a hybrid of skins in the header section. I would also like the content of the forum back.

Could I please have some further advice or intervention from Staff? Thank-you

Hi Codboy,

I've got all the boards showing again for you.

Just had to set the template priorities (Admin -> Manage Forum Templates -> Set Priorities). There were no "default" templates set.

Do let us know if you need help with anything else {Smile}

Thanks Ross. I have now put the forum back to the preferred skin style slip.wr.blu. However, we still have that annoying image at the top of the forum page.

Now, I promise that I'm not going to mess about again to try and fix this without direct support, but do you have any idea on how to change it back to the original format?

Everybody's help has been greatly appreciated

Cheers

Nearly there....... I loged in as a member today (not admin) to find that ugly hybrid of skins stuck at the top of the page (reported earlier in this thread). The members who have already signed up have also spotted this. Any ideas on how to remove it?

Thanks in advance

I've included a cropped screen dump to demonstrate the 'horror'

Hi Codboy,

There seems to be some kind of caching issue which is stopping these members from seeing the correct skin. It can be fixed by the member just going to the modify profile screen and clicking "Save Changes" (without the need to actually change anything). I have already done this for the "codboy" account to make sure it worked as expected.

It's currently 2:08am here but I'll try to take a look at what caused it tomorrow as well as finding the most appropriate fix.
