I believe this is already possible. Using this structure as an example:
Parent Board
-- Sub-Board 1
-- -- Sub-Sub Board 1
If you want the home page to only show "Sub-Board 1" then go into "Modify Board", choose "Sub-Board 1" and set the "Sub-Boards on Main Page" option to no. That should stop any children of Sub-Board 1 from being listed  | |
