When I click "Check Spelling" in firefox 3.6, the box loads, but no words come up. | |

It shouldn't do.
As I said, it is broken on this forum - I have known this for a while. This is because this forum is hosted on a separate server to user forums and this server does not have aspell (the software which does the actual spell checking) installed on it. It'll be fixed at some point, but that is a long way down my current to-do list.
