Its a good idea behind the whole forum, however, the only issues I can see are the entire skin! You have no banner, and with little customisation that you've done the skin isn't sexy nor attractive. It's a real turn off to the forum and should be fixed ASAP. Tips are to make a skin that looks good, whether you request a skin or use a premade its up to you. You can request images from the vFS support board such as banners, gradients and other things like that. Or you can find someone that can make skins and get them to design it for you so that it's nice and sexy. From there, you need to create interest in the forum. I can gather that the forum's design is so that it's not particularly active but rather as a very good resource forum for people to use. However, you need to have more than just a general board for people to continously post in. Just some tips

I agree with Sven, the idea is good. Your skin could use some work, the colors dont match.

Made a new skin. Better? Working on smilies but only have a couple so far. Going to make On and offs too. Mainly want banner and background rated.

The background is fairly plain, which is good, though, yours is just a straight colour. I would make it a horizontal gradient going from lighter in the CENTER to darker at the outskirts. The banner, I don't like, thats my opinion as I can tell how it was made and to me, as a designer, its horrid Though, others may think its cool.
