1. If you are to right click #1 as shown on the menu bar. Than here’s the following which you could choose from:

A marquee tool is to select a area, by doing this you could delete certain parts or you could just use it to move things around from a whole picture.
As you see there it is a dotted line which you could easily change size of. To make it so it’s a perfect square or any of the other buttons shape all you have to do is push Shift while dragging your mouse button.
The elliptical marquee tool is just to draw circles. The single row marquee tool could be use for stretching any parts that’s horizontal. The single column marquee tool is to stretch any parts that is vertical.
2. is the move tool. The move tool could be used for many different things, for example it could resize images and it could move images around.

When you click a image ^^^^^^ that will show up. On 2.1 (as you see I labeled it) that you could resize it in both direction (vertical and horizontal together) which you also could with 2.3 also. To resize a image so it’s a perfect scale all you have to do is push Shift while moving/resizing the image. At 2.2 this you could resize the image horizontally and 2.4 is vertically.
To move things all you have to do is click on the inside of the dotted box and drag it somewhere else.
3. Right click the tool to show more option. Just like the rectangular marquee tool this select things as well however it is more maneuverable.

The lasso tool you could draw, like the image below.

This is rough for selection and when selecting you could delete and move and other things a long the line.
The Polygonal Lasso tool is use to draw straight lines and this you could sometimes draw vertical box selection which could draws vertical lines or bars to enhance the signature a bit. Here you could fill in, delete, and other things like the lasso tool.
Note*- Any of the right clicks on the buttons usually relate in some way.

The magnetic lasso tool is where it basically follows where you’re going but it fixes itself and when cutting out this sometimes could be useful.

4. This is mainly for deleting a plain huge white background of an image.

The magic wand tool you could just click once on the background and it makes the selection for you, and this is usually used to delete something.

The Quick selection tool is exactly what it means it’s a quick selection. So all you have to do is click on one of the image and it selects it than you could click on the other part and it selects that as well.

5. Tool is used to crop or to have a selection.

Like that and to get that button I showed right beside number 5 I crop the menu to that button and than save it as a image.
6. is the Slicing tool, this is mainly use to create a template and slicing it creates separate images. Which for me I barely use or do not use at all.
7. ---------------- You will barely use this in designing. However the red eye tool you could remove red eyes in picture.

8. This button you really need to know or get used to it, as it is critical for creating backgrounds (with brush tool).

The color replacement tool you would barely use at all, so no need explaining that. However in the brush tool you would use it for many reasons, like getting brush packet which could include tech brush and things. This tool is major for creating signature backgrounds or any kind of backgrounds. The pencil tool is mostly use for pixel art, which pixel art sample is:
(made from here)
Pixel art is really time consuming and could take a while to create any kind of image if it is not a simple one.
9. This tool could be use to clone something. To clone things hold down alt and click on any parts in an image. Than go to a separate part of the image and just go over it. This function could be useful for editing manga or editing images.

10. You will not be using this function much at all. (therefore I'm skipping the explanation)

11. Eraser tool is use for erasing any part of an image.

You could lower the opacity of the eraser tool on the top of the menu. Lowering the opacity meaning the effect of it, so 100% you’ll erase the whole part and lowering it will erase a bit and fade it.

The other eraser tool you may be using much at all. The background eraser tool removes the background but it is really inaccurate.
The magic eraser tool is a tool which you could erase all the white background of an image. For example if you want to cut out a image and have a transparent background and the current background for that image is black or white than you use this and it’ll erase it. (Sometimes it’s useful)
12. When you right click it it should show this option:

Now the paint bucket tool is just use to fill the whole background with that color if it is a new document. The gradient tool is used to fade colors from one color to another for example:

There are many other different options for the gradient tool as shown:

Some of them you would use more than others, like radial tool you would use to have a better focal point.
13. When right clicked:

Here you have smudge tool, blur tool, sharpen tool.
The most you might use for a signature is a smudge tool, smudge tools are usually to smudge things. Basically the definition for it is:
Quote: The transfer of ink, usually due to abrasion or rubbing of a printed ink film, to an adjacent sheet or area (see "smear") of the paper
from: Google
Next is the blur too which is use to make a very sharpen image a bit blurry and not as sharp, and sharpen tool is use for a blurry spot to make it sharpen and stand out more.
14. When right clicked:

The dodge tool is used to brighten up a image and the burn tool is used to darken a image. Sponge tool you will not use that much at all, but it is use to desaturated or just to lessen the color in it.
15. Basically the most you will use is just the pen tool. The pen tool is use to draw lines and it could have pen art or just draw things with the pen tool. The pen tool has lots of uses and outline a drawn image is usually what it is use for, but there are many other uses.

You could select lots of option from here and shapes as well.
16. Text tool you could right click it and have a up and down text or just horizontal, which horizontal you would use the most. Text is just as you see here words. Also you could have a text area or box by just click one point and dragging it to the next.
17. You would barely use this option.
18. The ellipse tool is use to create some vector image.

As you see you could select those tools or have custom tool which includes hearts and arrows and things like that.
19. This is the note tool and usually use to make notes, but again you would barely use this option.
20. When right clicked

Eye dropper tool is used for getting a color in a signature, you would use it on like one of the color in the signature than it would appear in your foreground color. You will not use color sample tool as much. Ruler tool is usually need to make a image straight, usually when you scan a book or something it would be crooked therefore you would just go from one end to the other than go to: Image -> Rotate Canvas -> Arbitrary and just put okay, and it should straighten the image for you. You would barely use the count tool.
21. You would barely use the hand tool.
22. The zoom tool is use to make a image closer and easier to edit in one certain point. You could zoom in or out. This tool is really useful in some times.
23. The button:

1. Is the foreground color or your main color you have. 2. Is the background color. 3. Is to swap the foreground color with the background color therefore the background color is now the main color.
You would push D, to reset the colors.
And thus this is the end of the Explained Menu Buttons.

4. Frequent Ask Question (FAQ)
1. What's the difference between render and stock? Render is a image that is already cut out for you so you don't have to. And stock is just a photo and nothing is cutout.
2. Which site is the best to get renders? http://www.planetrenders.net/renders/index.php
3. Which site is the best for stocks? One
4. How do I get a screenshot? On your keyboard one of the button should say Print Screen. You push the button and paste it on like paint or photoshop and save it.
5. What are some free programs I could use to make graphic? Gimp
Have more FAQ? Than pm me more.
5. Short Cuts
I'll write a little bit about the shortcuts I use most often.
Ctrl + Shift + N - Probably the most important shortcut you ever need to know in PS. Makes a new layer.
Ctrl + Shift + S - Save as. More important than save because you usually want to make multiple copies since history only goes back so far.
M - Marquee tool. Useful not only for selection stuff but also for measuring distances.
P - Pen tool. For making shapes/selecting stuff too complicated for the marquee tool.
I - Eye dropper. Click to select specific color in document.
Ctrl + T - Free transform
Delete - Deletes?
G - Gradients/Fill bucket
B - Your brushes. (You really only need your defaults. Downloaded brushes are overrated.)
Ctrl + click on layer - Select the outline of layer. Really useful. When I first started, I wished someone had told me this shortcut earlier.
V - Move tool. Moves stuff.
Ctrl + - - Zooms out
Ctrl + + - Zooms in.
E - Eraser
Double click on layer to bring up layer styles.
Ctrl + E - Merge layers down
That's most of my most used shortcuts. I hope it's marginally useful for someone.
Oh yea, be sure to go to your shortcut preferences and delete the shortcut, Ctrl +Shift + M takes image to ImageReady. Before I changed this, I always imported the image to ImageReady while trying to make a new layer since N and M are like right next to each other.
Shortcuts by: Zilla
Also another one you need to know is D : To reset the colors Ctrl + Alt + Shift + S: Save image as jpg. or preview image. Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E = Apply image (Crazy)
