I wouldn't say that the world is "addicted" - most places use Microsoft as it's widely used so there's no point in training somebody to use a new thing when they can use a system everyone is familiar with. Ask 10 office workers and i'd be sure that they could all navigate and use ZP without a problem, but perhaps only one or two would be able to work properly on a Mac.
Outside of the IT world (and yes i'm generalising here) i don't think all that many people even knew about Apple until the iPod was released, and even now i've spoken to some people who haven't realised that they even do computers A few years back Microsoft was pretty much the easiest thing to get hold of, and was a lot more affordable.
