That's what me and my friend have been doing and it's worked ok so far I'm thinking of trying that; not sure which businesses I'd like to swap with yet. I wouldn't rule out too many to begin with, as any exposure is good exposure for a site/business that is trying to get it's name known. Maybe offer them discounts etc on hosting/design (if you offer design features) as a way of getting more interested?
