I love this laptop! It's amazing!
Intel Pent. processor P6000 1.86GHz
Intel HD Graphics
17.3'' HD+ LED LCD
3GB RAM
250GB HDD
HD Webcam
Win7 Home Premium x64
and it's made by Acer, Aspire 7741Z
and I got it for $400 plus tax.
So I'm back and ready to do some awesomeness!

When looking at any specs you should really take the price into account. I think that sounds a decent spec for that kind of price. I doubt I could get something like that for £250 in the UK | |

DM: yoy should stop using a laptop as your primary and get a desktop for when your home, you wont burn through laptops to quickly that way | |

My Mom, has had her Acer Aspire 1 for 2 years now. It's a die hard. xD 2 glasses of water spilled all over it in the same week. It's fallen on the floor. The keyboard stopped working because of the water. but it's still working great. It now has Windows 7 on it. and it's still going really good.

I don't like Desktops. Don't like the bulkiness, and can't move it anywhere, can't take it to a friends house, the dentist office, or McDonalds. and I would like to have the convenience of taking it from my room, to the living room, or dining room. So your argument is invalid. | |

We've got a couple of Acer desktops running in our office. One of them is the only machine in the office which hasn't had an issue of some sort or needed some kind of upgrade since it was brought over two years ago. I also used to have a friend who would swear by how good his Acer laptop was - and even at the time it was a few years old.
Generally I try not to buy into the whole "this brand is the best" way of thinking. I'm sure they all have their benefits and their downfalls. I try to look at things in terms of what is the most suitable bit of hardware for what I am trying to achieve. | |

That's what I say.
This one was better then my $700 Laptop, that had bad specs, than this one. Nothing would stay fixed. Get it back from the shop, and something else goes wrong. and now I can play my games at full graphics acceleration, without any lag. | |

Neither am I, but when you've seen issues like I have, you tend to be wary of certain brands.
I attempted to fix four Acer laptops last year; upon opening them up, I found components on the motherboard held down with masking tape, not vinyl/electrical tape. Two of the laptops had faulty hard drive connectors, one had a burnt-out PSU and the other's CPU was busted internally.
I've never used an Acer desktop, so I can't say anything about them, but I've not seen many good things from their laptops.
As a note, I agree with what Broken said about not using a laptop as your primary computer. All four of the Acers were used as primary computers, and I've also seen the effect personally. I've got 2 busted laptops in my closet, and this one's near the end of its life, as well (all from the past 4 years). I'm not saying don't have a laptop; just don't use it all the time. | |

Electrical tape is fine, but masking tape can melt/set on fire, which causes issues that don't even need to be specified. | |
