Swamped (20th Feb 10 at 1:11am UTC)
Hi Guys,

Just want to apologise for a lack of input/updates from me lately. I've been completely swamped with work for a few weeks which is starting to take its toll. And there's plenty more still to come {Cry} Although I shouldn't really moan, it's good to see the company having lots of new work come in - I just wish it was a little more spaced out {Tongue Out}

Anyway, to give this topic some meaning, what do you guys do to escape from stressful days at work/school/college etc.? I've been playing some old computer games which help me switch off & remind me of when I first played them. The latest has been Theme Hospital for the PlayStation ~ 10 years old {Shocked}

Sadly my work is my way to unwind {Unsure} even though i suck at it, i love programming, and i even love building the plot lines for games more. I am currently working with th4e UDK to build my own Survival Horror game that i am thinking about calling Forsaken Night. Though i'm sure that will change here very soon when I start college on the first and all i will be doing is mesh work and programming XD

Though i should be working on finishing Divine Shadows, but I have to wait for an update on the game engine, though the developers ate getting under my skin with their excuses for everything, oh well .

True dat. I've been swamped at work too - the joys of working for web dev agencies {Tongue Out}

We've got about 20 sites in a 'test' stage, and about 8 or so in various design stages...considering there's only the 5 of us doing any of the dev side it's piling up...and there's a lot of new clients rolling through the door! We shouldn't complain though {Tongue Out}

My ways to unwind are varied...during the course of the day, i try to get out into the town to buy some lunch; as i work in a lovely little Castle town its nice to get out and see whats going on and i can try to put myself back to neutral for the rest of the day.
Outside of work, i'll either just crash infront of my Xbox, hang with a few friends down one of the local pubs...or currently, i'm helping a mate pave his driveway, and rebuild his landrover {Cool} I'll try to spend a bibit of time with the missus too, i suppose i should include that {Tongue Out}

So yeah, i just try to detach myself as much as possible from work. Its not easy, but its crucial.

Graham, the Black Rabbit looks like a nice pub for a cold pint & some food... Tempting .... {Tongue Out}

Yes, as work continues to build up ... I continue to procrastinate, no excuse, I know that ... however, I am pretty sure that there's underlying reason as to why I'm reluctant to do the work, perhaps that I don't agree with the software we have to use! {Tongue Out}

Anywho - stick at it Ross & Graham - it'll all be worth it! {Tongue Out}

Re: Swamped (22nd Feb 10 at 1:23am UTC)
I've been quite swamped as well.

Although I'm pretty much done school (all I have this semester is co-op), I'm working quite a few more shifts at work, and as I recently got promoted (kind of) I've been given quite a bit more responsibility. I've had to stay until at least 1am a few times recently.

I've applied for college (and as I'm writing this I realize that my forms are still sitting in my room and need to be mailed ASAP), and in a few week's I'll need to start applying for loans, purchasing plane tickets, etc. It's pretty much a combination of excitement and nervousness right now, (since I'm moving to the other end of the country for school) which I'm sure will turn to pure nervousness as it gets closer to this upcoming fall.

Outside of work, I've also become a bit of a reliable local source for companies that need wiring and such done without having to pay a fortune (yay for word-of-mouth {Tongue Out} ) so that's kept me pretty busy as well. Also, I've grown tired of my managerial job, so I've also been in the process of looking for a new job; preferably in the music services industry.

Anyway, on to the point of the topic. How do I unwind from all of this? Xbox, mainly. ( {Tongue Out} ) I find it's a way to relieve stress and also have fun with friends without actually having to exert myself. I've gotten into playing guitar a fair bit again, as well.
