I blew up my computer this morning (1st Sep 08 at 11:40pm UTC)
Whoops
I've got a new graphics card for my work PC which I was having trouble getting to work. So this morning I tried tweaking a few bios settings before trying out an alternative card. Big mistake. It produced a couple of sparks and a burning smell
After a couple of hours of swapping components it turns out that I had managed to blow an essential part of the motherboard which stops any part of it from powering up.
It was quite embarrassing having to spend the rest of the day moving from one PC to another depending on whoever was out of the office at the time. And even worse when I had customers phoning up and I'd have to inform them that I won't be doing any more work on their website for a few days as it's stored on my broken PC. I'll be taking my laptop in with tomorrow and work on that instead And I don't think I'll be touching any of the internal workings of my PC for a while, or at least not once I've installed the new motherboard & put everything back together.
So, has anyone else blown something up at work or is just me?

Were they angry about it?
I've never blown up a computer, but the USB drive on my mum's old computer was glitchy and my brother completely wiped the hard drive when he plugged his digital camera into it.

A virus wiped out my computer, It could not find the operating system
My computer said.
System Failure then shut down.
I turned it back on. It did its normal thing, showing
Toshiba Leading Innovation>>> then it went to a blank screen and said that BOOT/BCD was missing, and so I restarted it, it said that Windows could not find the Operating System.
Luckily not. Although it's turned from the original upgrade I was going to get of a second monitor & sapphire 512mb graphics card to including another 1Gb of RAM, a new 600W power supply, a new (larger) case and a new Asus motherboard
It runs much better now though Even if it did take a few hours to set everything up and find the right drivers.

I don't trust you with the vF servers now, hand them over
Fortunately i've not actually 'blown' anything up but since i've had this computer (3 years) i've gone through 3 motherboards, 3 hard drives, 2 power supply's and a graphics card.
