Gotta Dash but... (30th Jun 08 at 4:07pm UTC)
This was damned worthy of a post.

Earlier today a female pupil at my school (about 8 or 9 years of age) had a fit. 999 (911 equivalent in UK!) was dialled. It was dialled again saying: "Where the hell is the ambulance". The girl had been fitting for 20 minutes, being her first fit, that's pretty damn long.

A Rapid Response vehicle turns up 15 minutes after dialling 999 for the first time. They stabilise the girl and she's fine. However, we still need an ambulance to get the girl to hospital. ONE HOUR after dialling 999, an ambulance appears. Many of us saying: "Where the hell have you been??". Then we find out the following:

There have been 2 MAJOR RTA (Road traffic Accidents) which have involved minors. They have had to prioritise the ambulances and deemed the RTA as more important. All good and well. HOWEVER, there was a fatality at the RTA. As soon as I had heard this, we all looked at each other and just thought - damn, here we were getting annoyed with the ambulance when really, someone just died.......... .......

Gah ... Such a crap end to the day.

*end of pointless post*

Ouch. Do you guys really have a shortage of ambulances? We probably have over a hundred in a city here. o_O. Everytime I, or somebody needed to be rushed out on one the ambulance is almost immediate.

By fit do you mean seizure? If so, ouch. :[. Hope it all gets better. Well all in all, I hope it all gets better.

We have about 100 ambulances ready at any time for here; usually they show up within minutes.

However, for your school comment, I personally find it much easier to be in a high school that only caters for grade 9 - 12. That way the rules are much more relaxed since no one under the age of 14 is there, and you don't have to deal with little kids every day. {Tongue Out}

We have a shortage of abulances where I live too. Pretty savage really, I nearly lost my life when an ambo couldn't get here in time (poisonous spider bite {Sad} ).

Lucky my dad is a nurse and knew what to do tbh.

We're seperated! >.< We never see the people under the age of 12... and even then you normally only see people your own age.

I was doing the play rehearsal in the younger part of school - and that's where it happened.
