I know it's been out for a while now. But what do you guys think of it?
I have to say BRAVO! Mom. Good call. I like what she did, why? My brother lied about alcohol, my mom believed him and his problem only got worse. (he's in prison now and is 16.)
My history teacher told me about that one, ha.![]()
I honestly don't agree with her 100%. I think she went a little overboard,![]()
Kids are going to do that type of thing, no matter what you tell/do to them. Doesn't mean you shouldn't do anything, but don't act like it is the end of the world.
Heheh
I can see her reasons for doing it, as it's the case of my house=my rules etc...but there must have been better ways to go about it![]()
Imagine what is crossing her mind though. Teenage son + alcohol + car. Then think of possibilities, did she loose someone due to drunk driving? A lot of Americans have now.
That is probably one of the few things that would drive me nuts with my kids, completly nuts. There are things I'll be lineit on, and things a definate no. So yeah. definate no for me there for this one thing.
I may agree; I may not. It all depends, since the ad didn't give full information.
If the parents paid for the car, then good for her; it was the right thing to do. If the kid paid for the car, then I completely disagree and say that the mom crossed the line.
that's horrible >,>
Cr0w: The ad said she bought it around Thanksgiving.
I support her for it. I really like the vigilante justice system adults have taken towards kids- if you do something wrong, let everyone else judge. How many times would you misbehave if you thought everyone would know about it tomorrow?
It also tends to reinforce the action as being wrong more than as the parent being mean.

I saw it and I have to say way to go. A strict parent will only make the child act better later on in life.
I agree with Vt, parents that don't care about their kid most of the time are messed up![]()

Including me. =(

Agreed.
The way I see it, there's going to be things that I won't like that people will do. But some of those things (say if it were my nonexistant kids...) they've got to experience and there's nothing I can do about that. But drinking and driving is a definite no if I'm the one who's paying for it. It's a privilege, not a right. And if my kid disregarded one of my set, unmoving rules, then, too bad for them. They better have learned.
Didn't the mum buy the car for him and while visiting him in university she checked his car to find it unlocked, and then found a bottle of alcohol?
It then turned out it wasn't his alcohol, but apparantly her rules stated no alcohol in the car, so him being the designated driver was just as bad. Pretty stupid in my opinion, if he didn't drink and drive he didn't do anything wrong.
Although him leaving the car unlocked was just as stupid...
If my kid was under eighteen and bought his own car, if I find alcohol in it, say goodbye. I will get their license suspended as well. I don't care, of course they can experience alcohol underage. But they better not be the driver.
If my kid gets drunk he better call me or get a ride and better not be the designated driver or drinking. If was the designated driver I would still think they had drunk. No alcohol in your car under the age of 21. It's illegal in the US to even have it in poccession under 21.
