Parkour? I've tried it for a laugh around where i live, but nothing serious. Being quite well built, it's not easy to throw meself round that much {Sad}

My favourite free running video.

I've fairly recently gotten seriously into this; I've got a team of two other people plus myself, and we're pretty good. {Smile}

Why run? {Tongue Out} Fight whoever's chasing you. {Tongue Out}

But yeah, it does make it a lot easier to get around; we practice on the roof of a school by my house; it's really fun.

We climb up an awning that's over the front doors, held up by two I-beams. From there we run and make a 4-foot jump to get to the lower roof portion from there. Next, we run toward the middle roof, step on the wall for extra height, grab on, and pull ourselves up. Next, we run and jump up some water pipes [Cold ones, of course. {Tongue Out} ] to get to the highest section of the roof. From here, we hang off the side of the roof, slide halfway to the ground on a pipe, jump from the pipe to a fence, then drop from the fence. {Grin}

It's an extremely fun thing to do; although it does take a lot of skill and effort.

That sounds like a fun little course, actually! Stay safe though, kids {Wink}

The term "safety" means a different thing in free running than in general life. {Wink} How safe something is in free running depends on how good you, how well you've trained yourself for the course, and if the conditions are correct. The school's roof is about 15 feet high on the lowest part of the roof, and about 50 feet high at the highest section of the roof [which is where we slide down the pole from]. I sounds very unsafe, but in free running, it's actually not very dangerous at all. {Wink}

Re: free running - Posted By Graham (amusedtodeath) on 4th Jan 08 at 10:56am
Oh, that's true - it all depends on the ability of the individual and most that attempt it will have had prior experience. It's all about (pardon the horrible joke) not running before you can walk {Embarassed}

Kid in my class does this, he taped it and showed it in class last year and it was pretty awesome.

Never tried it, but I saw some cool stuff on a Top Gear Challenge. [they Free Ran while the hosts drove to a location in London for a race. The Free Runners won xD]
