I know this is a strong topic that most people have, some strong feelings on.
When I made the poll asking people's sexualities, many expressed their views on homosexuality etc.. I personally think that it would be best if people could discuss their views on sexuality.
Just a few things:
Don't use bad words
Don't spam...
Back up your arguments.
For me, I don't see any harm in people being gay or bisexual or lesbian. I know I'm bi, but why would it affect people? People will most probably use the 'religion' argument. To be honest though, the bible may state that it isn't 'right' but times change, it might not have been accepted then, but the bible is outdated. Right?
I'm fine with it. I'm too liberal to not be.![]()
I will try to keep my words PG-13
It's not that I don't like gay pple, because I do have some gay friends, to me it's wrong for guys to "like" eachother. I don't mind lesbians though, I guess just because girls doing sexual things to eachother doesn't seem wrong, it seems natural. Bi pple I don't mind either, but yet I do mind, because of the male on male concept. I know that everyone has a right to choose there sexuality and to live there life that way. I bet some pple are thinking i'm racist towards gay guys, and I admit, I am, but I do not say anything bad about them because as mentioned I do have some gay friends that are veyr nice pple.
If i'v upset anyone, please pm me and tell me.
Wrighty, you're bi?!?*Runs*
Kidding, I stillyou.

Personally, I am a Christian, so your "bible is outdated" statement does offend me; but that aside, the bible also states to treat your neighbour with respect. In my mind, the respect rule is more important than the heterosexuality rule.
Although I do believe in what my religion says, and think that homosexuality/bisexuality is wrong, I do not hold anything against anybody who follows that path. There's nothing different about them, except who they like.
I have many bi/gay friends, and they're all great people. Quite a few of my ex-girlfriends are bisexual. So while I may think that the lifestyle choice is wrong, that does not change my view on the people who choose that lifestyle. Personally I'm a strong believer in self expression, so of course I do not put any judgement on people for their sexuality.![]()

You can't be "racist" towards homosexuals, because they aren't a race. It's called being homophobic.

I teach at the Bible School we have here over the summer, am a confirmed Catholic, and only applied (accidentally, I swear) to Catholic colleges. Jesuit, to be precise. My letter to the Bishop I had to write for Confirmation was read aloud at the ceremony, and I carried the cross for the ceremony.
So people don't quite get how I can justify being gay.
I guess there's a crucial distinction I make: the religion and the Church. They aren't the same, in my eyes. The religion preaches love, tolerance, goodwill towards man, and basically a strong moral fiber. The Church tacks things on to this, like the Bible, customs, practices, and rules.
I believe in the religion (the morals) not the Church (the rules that don't derive from the morals).
The whole 'God' bit I'm still undecided on.

I'm very Christian, and I believe that man was made to be with woman. I agree with Marc about the be kind to your neighbor a lot on this.
I don't really enjoy thinking about being in the P.E. locker rooms and knowing there is a guy that is watching us change and all, because that's just kind of awkward to me. Sorry if this portion has offended any of you.
I don't have any male gay friends, but that is because I don't know of any that are at my school except in the 7th grade but I don't talk to any of them. As for Bi/Lesbian girls I know plenty and some I'm quite good friends with.

Just because someone is bisexual/gay doesn't mean he's attracted to every guy he sees; same with you toward girls.![]()
For the record, 99% of the time, we don't want to see it as much as you don't want us to see it. ^_^
Well, in my case, at least.
I've learned how to put the blinders on effectively, because... well, there are some things I really don't want to see.
Though, it is nice, everyone does clear a path for me whenever I need to walk somewhere in the locker room. ^_^

I was going to mention that. I really wouldn't care unless it was a girl of a young age.

Racist, no. Biased yes. How is it alright for woman but not men? It's just the same for two men as it is for woman.
=========================================
As i stated in another forum i don't believe any of that wired the wrong way or being born that way. I believe it's more a product of environment, possibly upbringing but above all just something you feel inside, I don't believe there has to be a medical justification.
A child might have these feelings when young but i don't believe it's until adolescence when they really start to know because of hormones. I don't believe a child before that does "know" or is born that way, I think we all start of neutral.
I have to agree with Bones on what Grievous said. You saying that it's okay for woman but not men seems more to me as a "fetish" thing rather than any actual logical reason.![]()
*Tries hardest to word it in a PG-13 way*
I really wish this was an R rated forum, it would make it easier for me to say wat I want![]()
I'm sorry, but wat i'm wanting to say is something most pple won't like plus will get me banned since this is a PG-13 forum. I just think that guy on guy (please let that still be considered pg-13) is wrong, and thta it's natural for girls. why?? I don't know, thats just how I think. now when it comes to BI pple, then it's ok for them to "like" girls and guys.
*wishes that I didn't have a racist mind*
I have to say that Marc is right about Grievous' comments. It is a fact that many heterosexual males find lesbians ok because they find it sexy or a turn on. If you asked most males they would say its true, but when it turns out a friend or relative is a lesbian it is suddenly wrong.
VFS doesn't have many female representatives but as far as I know it is sort of the same with gay guys, from talking to straight girls they find guy on guy "hot". Same reaction if its a relative or friend.
I personally find that anyone deserves to love/like/enjoy tiem with anyoen, of the same or differetn sex. Everyone has the right to be themselves and if that means they prefer someone who is the same sex how is that a bad thing? I don't see how someone sexual preference changes who they are as a person, how it makes them less normal or how it can allow others to be prejudiced against them. I'd prefer everyone to be homosexual to heterosexual if it means they are happy, no one else whould influence anyones feelings.

Unfortunately, I cannot debate what Grievous has said without it leaning closer to the 18A side of things. Thus, I must continue as though his post wasn't made.
I agree with Felix; the whole basis of prejudice is being different. If someone is not how someone else thinks everyone should be [most likely the way the "someone else" is], they are not normal and should not be treated as such.![]()
Hold on there Marc, wat is normal? thats a question that has yet to be answerd. normal could be anything, it just depends on the person saying it.
Hold on there Marc, wat is normal? thats a question that has yet to be answerd. normal could be anything, it just depends on the person saying it.
Which is exactly what I said in my post; if "Bob" is not like "John", then "John" sees "Bob" as not normal, and thus shouldn't be treated equally.![]()
Normal in a straight guys eyes is guy and girl. Normal in a gay guys eyes is guy and guy, same thing with lesbians, but which is right? Neither are wrong, neither are right. most people think girl guy (guy girl, either way) is the normal way, but if they had a gay or lesbian friend, that friend mite show that perosn that being gay/lesbian is the same as guy girl except for the whole babies part.
Again, DLG, that's not being racist.![]()
May I ask, Grievous, how someone's sexuality changes their view on normality? Just because someone is attracted to someone of the same sex doesn't mean they believe everyone should be, the same with people attracted to the opposite sex. Just because someone is one way doesn't always mean they think everyone should be, usually that reaction comes from someone who is prejudiced against people for being different...
