Useful when banningpeople. Might be someone hijacking another person's account, thus not having to ban the member, but meaning you can simply ban the IP.

Also, useful for guest posting.

That tis a good idea {Wink} , as if you are having a problem with a guest, or a spammer. or teh Chinese spam bots (thats if they know about this service {Tongue Out} )

There's a whole arsenal of technique to prevent spam bots from posting here. I learnt that from the first forum I setup which was invaded by a spam bot. IP banning would do nothing to prevent them as they tend to launch attacks from many different servers.

I like the idea, though there's methods in place to prevent spammers, if there are members that need banning i think it'd be handy.
