Apart from that it has a good distinct look, and it will be interesting to see when it opens.

I am going to probably fully open it in a few days. I am allowing registration and character biographies to be created now but things are subject to change.
Thanks for your comments.

Minimalistic isn't everything. Simply telling him to make it minimalistic is your own point of view. I however thing it looks good atm!

Ooh, when first opening it up, I see that it's my kind of forum. I can tell by the elfish-looking text that it's fantasy related, so even if you don't know what "Dark Shines" is, you can tell it has something to do with fantasy.
Although the theme is to my liking, the background isn't. :-\ It's too distracting and busy. You should try something a bit more subtle, maybe something like this? I don't know whether or not it would match your color scheme, though something with a similar design would look much better (and that way it wouldn't repeat).
The border around your text area is great looking and the background within it is nice; it looks something like olden times/script and it's not too distracting to take away from the text.
I like your introduction paragraph that you have, yet it doesn't explain too much about what "Dark Shines" is. Now, I do see that you have a menu to the right of the forum, but many won't want to read all too much to find out whether or not your forum is for them.
Last aspect that I have to comment on is the title of your site, which is at the bottom. It looks good, and the text is alright, though the light that you have shining from beneath it clearly shows the border of the image, which doesn't look too design savvy.
I couldn't find your actual forum, do I need to register to find it? But if I can't find it, I bet others may be having a hard time as well.
Overall, it looks good. The layout is interesting and I like the topic of it. The two things that I really suggest changing is the background and the banner towards the bottom (the lighting effect).

Minimalism is a load of garbage in my opinion. Yes, Google is minimalistic. Why? Because you only spend a few minutes at most finding what you're searching for. If I plan on spending hours a day on a site, I'd like something nice to look at, and a bunch of features to keep me occupied.

'I couldn't find your actual forum, do I need to register to find it? But if I can't find it, I bet others may be having a hard time as well.' no, it was intended to be that way. Members can have access to some of the forums, there are not many. I am waiting for Wrighty or Dragon to fix the bugs I pointed out in their biography codes before launch.
http://wallpaperstock.net/smoothy-blue-wallpapers_w973.html looks wonderful. I will take something like that into consideration, thank you. =].
I am thinking of redoing the entire look to something of a reddish color but of the same style.
Now to the minimalistic comment by Xero, care to elaborate?
