pmwww | New Job! (24th Apr 10 at 11:41pm UTC) | | So, after 2 long years, I am no longer a supervisor at a local ice cream shop.
I recently got a job as a Network Administrator // Web Developer for a local retail outlet called "WeSellit" (they sell a bunch of random stuff; go-karts, saunas, e-bikes, snowshoes, etc).
I had my orientation this morning, and it really seems like an awesome job. Great pay, monthly bonuses, flexible hours, great people, small business, etc.
So yeah, I'm pretty excited. I thought I'd share it with you. If you'd like more info on the technical aspects of the job, check out my post in the Programming Discussion board.
What about all of you? Where do you work? Do you enjoy it?

I would like to get into web-developing, but I don't know JS that well and even though I have gotten a lot better with PHP, SQL and Graphics Design I just don't trust my skills enough to work for anyone but myself.
Well as for work, I have no job... I am unable to find work at all no matter where I apply for a job.. Though thats a paid job, there is always the game development which i love doing. But since I a developing my own games, and have yet to release a full game, I have made nothing from it

pmwww | Re: New Job! (26th Apr 10 at 2:35pm UTC) | | Congrats! And no job for me.
also about game dev. You need to know c# and a whole bunch of stuff. My friend is at Full Sail learning and all that. But he has never built a site in HTML css nor js but I guess he'll get it and pass because he showed me some of the coding.
| dog199200 Guest | Re: New Job! (26th Apr 10 at 4:49pm UTC) | | Just to point out, game development, and game design are TWO different things design focuses on the graphical aspect, which is texturing, 3d rendering, map design. For game design you don't need to know programming when working in a team of programmers, though its always a plus
Game development on the other hand is a combination of both design and programming. Though its not normally done by one person, some of us don't got a choice
Though i'd point that out DM just in case you took Aiken's comment the wrong way XD yea i know "shut up" but i'm just being technical

pmwww | Re: New Job! (26th Apr 10 at 10:43pm UTC) | | He already bought all the programs and such through his tuition, $70K is a bit much, but it covered it all, he was mad that he got a computer that was slow, and had Vista on it. The computer he has now came from the college, and is 32 bit Vista, he can't upgrade the RAM, and the Graphics are not HD, when he should have gotten a MacBook Pro. With all the above things, even though he hates Apple, (Thinks they are trash, and stupid. his own opinion) but it still had everything he wanted/needed.
If it was a windows computer, he wanted it to be 64 bit Windows 7, with Nvidia HD graphics, with all the things he needs. But it didn't work out that way.
| dog199200 Guest | Re: New Job! (26th Apr 10 at 10:50pm UTC) | | umm i'm with him all the way, apple is a shoddy company and I can't stand them at all. You will never catch my using a mac, cause I refuse to use any of apples hardware.
I can build a better pc, that runs windows 7, and it would run a lot better then any apple mac and still be cheaper.. As for software, I don't need to pay a lot of money for meaningless hardware. Blender is the best 3D rendering program, it just has a major learning curve because the GUI is complex. And Paint.net is great for texturing. It provides everything i'd need to create an HD looking texture that can fit onto any mesh.
