Mini-Update Rolled Out to Forums: Improved Flash Support, Meta Tags & RSS Feeds | | A small upgrade has just been applied to all forums. The most noticable new feature, and the one which will be most used, is our improved flash tag support. As many of you will already have known, we've supported embedded YouTube videos for a while. However now we're extended the number of ways you can embed a video and have added limitted support for Google Video.
Now, to embed a video you can use either:- The URL of the page the video is on
- The URL from YouTubes "Embed" option
- The ID of the Video
For example, all of these produce the same result:
[flash]http://youtube.com/watch?v=nb9yzIUga4w[/flash]
[flash]nb9yzIUga4w[/flash]
[flash]http://www.youtube.com/v/nb9yzIUga4w&hl=en&fs=1[/flash]
Because our range of UBBC tags seems to be growing so much we've put together some short documentation listing each tag and what it does, including some you may not know about. UBBC Guide
We've also attempted to make all forums more search engine friendly with this latest upgrade. This has been done by giving you access to your sites meta description, meta keywords and page title as well as allowing you to add additional html into the head element itself. To do this visit the "SEO Settings" page in your admin panel. Linked with this is the implemention of some RSS 2.0 feeds which will provide search engines (and users) with a way to keep up-to-date with what's happening on your forum. These feeds provide a list of the most recent posts in each board and topic. If your browser supports this facility, the RSS icon should light up when viewing any board or topic page.

Just a small bug I noticed with the new [table] UBBC parsing (designed to remove any extra line breaks). The zeros were just a quick way of me checking it while I fixed it | |

Provided the video you want to embed is hosted on google video, you'd do exactly the same as for YouTube

I never used any meta tags before, and I do not understand how to add them in. (typically in the SEO part)
