Skin Problems (2nd Jun 08 at 5:18am UTC)
Default skins header coding is faulty.
Forum URL: N/A
Experienced By: Myself
Browser: Fx 3b5
Operating System: Linux--Fedora 9
Skin: Though this happens in both Bluestream and slip.wr.blu, the only code I've looked at is for slip.wr.blu.

Problem: The header at the top of almost all the forums is not loading properly. It causes the page to stretch in my browser and is not aligned properly. I'm not really sure what the source of the issue is, but I'll investigate further to see if I can fix the code that's causing it; if I can I'll post it here.

Note: I posted this under support because although it is a coding issue, it has to do with all of the default skins that VF supplies.

I'm not sure of Bluestream, but for slip.wr.blu, be sure you have the ads set to appear above the welcome table. {Wink}

Unfortunately, that doesn't occur for me. Could you provide a screenshot of both skins? {Unsure}

I'm stuck on 800x600 because they don't have a proper driver for my video card yet, but even still, the header shouldn't be affected by screen resolution.

Actually it is.
The skin is built to expand/collapse to the right width of your screen. BUT the 2 parts that make up the top left & top right of hte banners are wider than 800px.

Unfortunately! I can only suggest using another skin! {Smile}

Right, but with proper coding that can be fixed. {Wink} It's not a matter of my browser can't support it, it's just that the coding isn't done properly, which is exactly what I said in the first place.

The coding is fine, there is nothing wrong with the coding. The designer decided that the menu shouldn't bunch into multiple lines, and should remain on one line.

The coding is sound, as is the design.

Apparently not, this can be coded to meet the design requirements without causing it to stretch my page. I'll investigate further, as you don't seem to keen on fixing the problem.

there's no mention of my keenness in the matter. I am more than willing to fix it, however, as this is the first such report of the problem.

In my view, it's not worth fixing or spending my time on fixing when there's another perfectly good skin that you could use. If it came to light that there were hundreds of people saying it's a problem, then I'd sort it right now.

But as it isn't, I'm not prepared to.

That's exactly what keenness is.

No, what I have said is, I am KEEN to fix it, I am just not prepared to do it based on the fact that it's one person complaining of the problems.
