dog199200 Guest | Fullmetal Alchemist: A World Apart (28th Oct 08 at 3:37am UTC) | | Ok here is something I have been working on for a while now and I have to say it is almost done at last, at least enough to open it up to the public, but before I give you the link"s" to the site"s" i want to give you an idea of what the site is about and what I am going for.
~Website~
The website is designed to be the forums portal. I have used the API system to do almost all the features in the site as you can see. The skin is a very simple design and is very easy to navigate and provides an quick login to the forum, giving the website even more features that only members have access to.
At the current time I do not have the events setup, but Ross said when he can he will work on adding in a setup so that upcoming events will be able to be called.
~Forum~
For the forum I was going for matching it to the skin of the website, which I find I did really well. The forum is designed as most forums that have an rp bases, but at the same time I have a very wide open setup for the members to site back and chat with other members, whether its about the fma tv series, other anime's or just general things, and all at the same time its very well organized. Another thing I made sure was that you can tell what is part of the rp's and what is not. As well I am using my own info center design which is easy to navigate just like the rest of the forum.
Please keep in mind that some of that was just my own opinion on how the site is setup, such as it being easy to navigate, but anyways please feel free to comment and rate my sites at your own leaser. Any comments will be used to fix any errors or to improve the sites accessibility.

and what's with the last category. The on/off icons seem to be taking a lot of space
I also think it needs more sub-boards. But that's only just my opinion.

dog199200 Guest | Re: Fullmetal Alchemist: A World Apart (28th Oct 08 at 4:15am UTC) | | the thing is that I think using sub-boards is a bad idea when they are not needed. This is because when you nothing but sub-boards, you bgoard can be limited down to a single main board for ev er category and that doesn't make much of a forum, but now I use sub-boards when they are needed because they don't look right or are just out of pl;ace when they are made into normal boards. Its called knowing how to balance out your boards so that there doesn't seem to be to many, to less, or to not have boards out of place.

deviant Guest | Re: Fullmetal Alchemist: A World Apart (31st Oct 08 at 8:54pm UTC) | | I like the skin colors and I think it goes well with the background. Though I think that the background and banner are messily done. The banner is clearly stretched. I think it would look better if you found another picture or something. Or changed the height/width of it to make it not look so stretched. Also, the background repeats (obviously), and i think that makes it look a bit messy. I would recommend making the image larger (or at least wider. its more difficult to notice a background being stretched), so you don't have that problem.
When I first scrolled down the forum, I wasn't sure what the forum's main focus was, besides reading your first post of this thread. I think if this forum is going to focus on role play, you should have the role play sections at the top or below the Informational category. Or if the anime show chat is the most important part of your forum, have that at the top or right below the Informational category. I think this will put emphasis on the role play or show discussion.
6/10. I think you have some ways to go, but its still a young forum.

dog199200 Guest | Re: Fullmetal Alchemist: A World Apart (5th Nov 08 at 6:33am UTC) | | ...the background image i'm not sure exactly what you mean I release it is to small, but I am working on a very small monitor on a standard res, so can you please post a screenshot and the res size you are using please, so I can get a general feel of how much it need to be adjusted by, but what you need to release is that with images it can never be perfect because with out coding for a res size for ever single res to display an image that fits the res, which would take forever to load, it is not possible to fit an image to ever single res size, so its fitted for a standard red 1028 X 768 which is what i really should go by considering, there is still a lot of people out there that either doesn't have a monitor that can support up to a higher res, or just doesn't have the vid card, so if i push the res size to high the image will because to big and blurry for a smaller res.
Now for the logo image, I was going o redo that here soon anyways and it is kind of stretched from the original because when fitting the forums width to the websites width i can to stretch the image to fit both the forum and the website evenly, but my gfx skills are moderate and far from perfect, so I have been going my best to put off making a new logo.
And as for the site, the main focus is equal, and I don't get any complaints on how it is formatted, at least not many. It is very easy to fins what you are looking for and I always have the rp at the bottom because I find it out of place if the chat boards are at the bottom.
Anywasy get me a screenshot and your res and i'll fix the background and the logo to better fit

dog199200 Guest | Re: Fullmetal Alchemist: A World Apart (5th Nov 08 at 8:24pm UTC) | | ya because some how repeat did get turned on, and i don't got a clue how, so i removed the repeat function from the background of both the forum and the website, and i'm just to busy right now to make a logo image, so i'm just going to request one
