pmwww | Christmas already? (24th Sep 08 at 9:16am UTC) | | Man, there's only 90 or so days left apparently...but am i the only one who thinks it's still far too early to have a lot of christmas merch in shops already? In my branch of Sainsbury's we've got all our advent calendars/seasonal food out and ready, with more in the warehouse waiting to go out

I noticed that in our branch last week. I'd rather not see any Christmas merchandise until at least November. It always seems like they're starting Christmas earlier each year and ending it earlier too. The last Christmas I was working at Sainsburies (not last Christmas but the one before) we were putting out stuff for the January sale before Christmas Day!

The stores around here are now hiring Christmas help. Not long ago the mall ( a few years back ) did an early mall wide "xmas" sale and it worked...amazingly, boosted our economy beatifully so we try to extend the holiday shopping.

pmwww | Re: Christmas already? (12th Oct 08 at 1:00pm UTC) | | I'd rather people started selling Christmas stuff on December the 1st, but nobody was allowed to TALK about Christmas untill December the 23rd. That way I wouldn't have to listen to weeks of people going on about it, to the point where the only reason I was looking forward to the 25th was because afterwards people might shut up.
