Litespeed webserver (24th Feb 08 at 4:58pm UTC)
Anyone have any experience with it? I've been considering changing my VDS over to it. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I remember one of my friends who ran a decent sized hosting company (300+ clients) and had his server with around 150 clients on it. He ran proxies on it, shared, reseller. Server load was never high, never a slow page load. He had high bandwith on all his accounts to and he had some big sites. The main site was getting ddos attacked, and every other site on the server was fine, no slow loads or anything. Only thing i'm worried about is converting my current server over to it with the control panel and everything.

I remember a lot of people trying it out earlier when they had released Version 2.2 of it which had support for Rails. Although that was back sometime in late 2006. I've heard it's gone through some considerable changes, but it's always been falling and climbing back up in the market, never been extremely stable on that front, I'm not sure why.

As for the performance as a web server, I've never heard anyone complain about it as such, so I'm guessing it's fairly all right. The price is a big dodgy though isn't it?

I've been using it for about 2 weeks, it's not amazingly better than apache, and I've come to realize my hosts network is just very slow to.

It advertises itself to be six times faster than a modded Apache server.

Maybe in the best conditions with a decent sized server. I didn't find it easy to convert either, it created plenty of problems and it was quite a sum of money for me to get all the bugs resolved.
