Why does the upload system rename .jpg to jpeg?

Because it does. All part of it verifying that you are uploading a valid image. What is the problem with that?

Cool. Really I suppose it comes down to lazy coding forcing all JPEG images to use the same file extension {Tongue Out}

That's how mirrorimg.net is as well. It doesn't bother me, as long as it shows the images! {Tongue Out}
