Problem:
Tried to Split Topic. When doing so got error - The requested topic does not exist.
Checking through forum I can only find one of the posts from the original topic, and the new Split Topic doesn't exist.
Now, checking security records when I click the links in the Security Records for either the original or new topic, I get the same error - The requested topic does not exist.
I think this might be because I used same name for the new topic but in a different board, or because the topic was marked as an Announcement, or combination of the two.
Can you help find / restore the missing posts?
Hi,
It looks like you found a bug. By looks of things (I may be wrong) one of the posts you split was the first post in the topic? Anyway, both parts of the topic are now viewable:

Thanks for sorting it.
Yes, I was trying to split just the very first post in the topic away into an area that only admins could see, as it was no longer relevant, but the rest of the topic still was.
If I need to do that again, I'll try to remember to leave the first post as is and split the rest of the topic into a new one, then just shuffle them around with the Move function!
Can I ask now, is there any way of remerging the two topics? I will then just delete the first post.
Scott.
You should be able to, try clicking "merge topics", I've only used the feature but only once. Have not had a forum that stayed alive long enough to use all features.
Thanks for sorting it.

After posting that I did a few more tests. Although I wasn't able to duplicate exactly what happened on your forum I did manage to get something similar. I've put in a bug fix which fixed the issue I had (which was the original topic disappearing after splitting the first post). It's possible that it will stop the same happening on your forum again.
That fixed was rolled out to all forums along with our other changes today: Shorter URLs
As Darkmage says, you can use the "Merge Topics" feature, to use that you need to enable "Multi-Moderation" mode.
Took me a while but eventually found the Merge Topics option. It hasn't worked though, presumably because of the initial fault. Got a report that the topics had been merged, and it lists it as being done in Security Records, but the topic is still split.
Should all be merged now?
Yes. Thanks Ross.
