the proboards one will not work, no.

There is a built in uploader within the reply system - if you click on the 5th button from the left this will open a pop-up and allow you to upload to the site directly.

if i am correct isn't the uploader for images only??

It is for images, but i cant imagine many other things people will be uploading to the site other than that
