Operating System: Windows 7 RC build 7201
Problem:
I get this on the Mac OS skin. Though every skin is over 1.0000+ seconds. Now on any other vF forum including iCodes, I get under like 0. something seconds. and all images are on PhotoBucket, with iCodes, and everything else. and none of the images are huge file size either. PhotoBucket wont allow more than 1MB upload. and it's usually around 500KB or so.

Vista Ultimate took:
All times are GMT-6 :: The current time is 8:04pm
Page generated in 1.1693 seconds
with 24 Database Queries and 13 cache files
and yes all my cache files get deleted and such as soon as I exit the browser.
In Chrome I get:
All times are GMT-5 :: The current time is 7:13am
Page generated in 3.0706 seconds
with 19 Database Queries and 22 cache files
FF:[quote]

What I think you need to consider, is that the background image takes AGES to load - furthermore, statcounter can sometimes take a while to load - so that might cause a problem also.![]()
I got:

Wre you using the right skin?I got:
All times are GMT-5 :: The current time is 11:35am

it's not the skins really. and when I took out statcounter (which I most likely wont need when V2 rolls around for all forums) page load time on the vForums default skin (on my forum) takes:
All times are GMT-6 :: The current time is 11:25am
Page generated in 3.8274 seconds
with 24 Database Queries and 13 cache files
So I am assuming it has to be either a code (which all the same codes are on my test forum, and my test forum loads up pretty fast) or a server issue.![]()
There is no reason a "server issue" as you call it wouldn't affect just a single forum or just some people. I loaded a few pages on your forum using a few different skins and they all loaded within very reasonable times. So in order to better diagnose what the issue is we'd need specific information:
- What page is taking a long time to load (don't just give a generic "any topic", a link is needed, ideally one which can be viewed by guests)
- What skin are you using (again, ideally it'd be one viewable to guests so this can be preoperly tested)
- What page is taking a long time to load (don't just give a generic "any topic", a link is needed, ideally one which can be viewed by guests)
Main Page
- What skin are you using (again, ideally it'd be one viewable to guests so this can be preoperly tested)
All skins are viewable by guests.
The one I am mostly on is "Mac OS X Leopard Theme". But the same happens on all skins. On the main page.
I'm struggling to replicate it personally, - the longest loading time on ant of the skins for me was the OS X one in question, but that was only 2.7 seconds
So that was my $0.02

On the home page of your forum I'm struggling to get a loading time of more than 1 second. I've only managed it once so far which included loading the shoutbox for the first time and all the images for a skin (one I hadn't used before) and even then it was only 2.5 seconds![]()
Do you have Google Chrome? It has a tool on it where you can see how long each item on the page (stylesheets, javascript, images etc.) take to load & execute.
According to chrome - took just under 2 seconds & the longest thing was the shoutbox :)
On the Vista Ultimate skin:
All times are GMT-6 :: The current time is 9:32am
Page generated in 3.0842 seconds
with 25 Database Queries and 13 cache files
WinXP theme:
All times are GMT-6 :: The current time is 9:33am
Page generated in 5.1263 seconds
with 24 Database Queries and 13 cache files
I have a 3MB connection, and that should be fast enough to load up a forum fast.
Here on support on the main page I get:
All times are GMT-5 :: The current time is 10:34am
Page generated in 0.5285 seconds
with 37 Database Queries and 1 cache files
Yes I do have Chrome, and this is what I get as a guest loading the forum for the first time and using the main forum skin.
All times are GMT-5 :: The current time is 10:35am
Page generated in 3.2196 seconds
with 19 Database Queries and 22 cache files All times are GMT-5 :: The current time is 10:35am

I checked out iCodes (on main skin) and this is what happens. http://icodes.vforums.co.uk
All times are GMT-5 :: The current time is 10:41am
Page generated in 11.7808 seconds
with 30 Database Queries and 15 cache files
I'm thinking it might just be PhotoBucket taking awhile to load, but I doubt it as half the forum does not show up until a few seconds later. after page has fully loaded.
Actually this is the first time I encountered this on iCodes
It takes less than half a second to load icodes for me!![]()
Could it be my OS? I'm running Windows 7 RC (build 7201) But I dunno, I doubt it.![]()
Cache, history, cookies etc get deleted out everytime I restart FireFox. Should I try a flush DNS in cmd?
Ok so I did a flush dns, restarted my laptop and I still get:
All times are GMT-6 :: The current time is 11:54am
Page generated in 1.2863 seconds
with 24 Database Queries and 13 cache files
Also I thought the draft's were supposed to save? because I forgot to press the modify button on here, and I restarted, I get back on try to make a new reply, and I don't see the message about a recovered message.![]()
edit:
ok now I am getting under 0.0some seconds. I think it had to do with my DNS.![]()
As far as I know drafts are only if it's a new reply or new post!![]()
Oh well it said saving draft. so I assumed when I modified a post it saves a draft.![]()
