Looking at that forum, no profile options had been saved. When adding profile options, the only required field is the "Name". For the other fields:
The "Default Value" will be used for all users who haven't specified their own value.
The "Description" is shown in the modify profile screen to explain to the member what they should enter.
The "Min-Length" is the minimum number of characters a user must enter for it to be saved. If you want to make the field compulsory but don't mind how long it is then you can enter "1" in this field.
The "Max-Length" is the maximum number of characters a user can enter for this field. It can be any number greater than 1.
The "Numeric" option specifies if the user can only enter numbers into this field. For example if it's being used as a stat.
The "Increase By __ With Each Post" option only applies if the numeric option is enabled. It will increase the value by a set amount depending on the users post count. This would be used to give some form of "points" or "money" each time a user posts.
