Don't know if this has been suggested before, can't remember.
I think it'd be a fantastic feature if you could tag people in posts. Similar to the bookmark feature, only the user only receives a notification stating that they've been tagged, not after every reply. For instance, my post titled "Wrighty = Bad Driver" -- having a tag feature would ensure that it grabbed his attention. Of course, this could be on a per-board basis, so that people couldn't tag staff members in their support threads and such for the sole purpose of receiving a quicker response.
It could also be on a per-member basis, so that they can choose who can tag them...Staff Only, Buddies & Staff, Everyone.

I like that idea.![]()
Interesting
I like the idea of two methods of enabling/disabling.
User setting who can tag them - guests, members, buddies, staff, all etc...
Staff choosing which boards can have tags.
Not sure how you'd go about doing the tagging though!![]()
Saying a name in the Subject? or in a UBBC tag [tag]Ross[/tag]?
This might put some use to the Buddy system, because I never used it before.

I think something similar to how our PM system works would be a good implementation. Simply have another input on the posting form where you enter their username, then at the bottom of the post next to the "Back To Top" it could have a link saying "People In This Post", which brings up a box like the "Guests Online" one in the info center when clicked.![]()
I think it should be a box that is hidden until a text link or image link is clicked to show the box. Could be too cluttered otherwise.![]()

I don't know if that was intended to be funny or what... but this isn't a privacy thing at all, no different from reading a post. I don't see what makes you think it is! O.o

Of course it was funny. But I guess I fail at funny.

Anyways. I 'might' have mis-read what was said. What I though that the post meant was when someone is in the thread it shows them viewing it.
Maybe not.![]()
No no, this is about tagging someone in a post. So that they get a PM or something if they so choose to have it enabled. This has nothing to do with viewing people who are viewing a post or that!![]()

"People In This Post" as in people who were tagged.![]()
As for Wrighty's post, I think it could work well if we just added a button to the UBBC buttons that brought up the input when clicked; similar to the image uploader.![]()
Do we then allow people to tag posts, or would it just be when starting a thread?

Oh ok, then I did mis-read it.I'm tired and on a tv that is bad with words.

Hmm, I think individual posts would be unnecessary, but I do think that in the tagging box there should be an option of whether or not to let others tag people in the thread.![]()
It sounds like a good idea in principle, but i dont know how much it is open to abuse.
Role play boards would like this for private role play threads. Disallow others not tagged to post. Also something of 'request an invite' to that thread would be amazing.

It's something that would be controllable by individual users, and by the staff. That's why I think it should just be open for the thread starter, not for the people that are posting.
I like ashkir's idea
