Where about are you referring to?

I think this could be good, can I suggest using the same set-up as locked topics, but with a message saying it is merged? =]

All of it?

When you merge a topic, there's nothing about the merged topic to indicate it as having been more than one topic before.

I'm asking for either the topic icon to change, or for "[Merged]" to be added to the start of the topic title, so that people can tell it's a merged topic.

I'd disagree with the topic icon changing. Which titles should have "Merged" added to them?

I think an icon change would work best here

Whichever one comes first in the merged topic.

But regardless of if two topics are merged or not, they're still just a normal topic?

Yes, but, in the event of something like this, it would make it much less confusing for members and staff.
