Advanced Stats - Posted By Marc (cr0w) on 9th Mar 08 at 2:57am
This is one thing that I think would work great; if you were to offer an Integrated Advanced Stats system. {Smile}

It would be in the admin panel, and would show such information as which categories/boards are most active, what time during the day the forum is busiest, what parts of the world most of the users are from [IP-To-Country], things like that.

This would aid admins a lot, as it could help them target certain areas of their forum based on what people like/dislike most. {Smile}

Very good Idea Marc, plus I can see myself using this.

Very Very hawt idea, Marc. {Smile}

How about adding " the most used browser or resolution"? I could this see helping a lot of admins especially designers.

My only concern with this, is that logging & processing that kind of information can put a lot of strain on the server. And a lot of other services already offer those kinds of stats plus a lot more. Google Analytics for example.

I thought about the Google Analytics services prior to posting this, but if this were to be added, it could be much more customizable and integratable. {Smile}

Admins could show the stats on their forums, with the layout they please, it could be incorporated into the API, and it would be available directly from the service rather than going to third-party sourced. {Wink}

but still the strain on the servers would be too much, most forums members don't even understand the feature. Perhaps it should be actived by admin only, and default disabled. but honestly its not worth the strain it will have on the server, just too much. Maybe in future once things expand more.

Re: Advanced Stats - Posted By Marc (cr0w) on 25th Mar 08 at 7:41pm
Maybe this could be a paid feature ross?, that way their wouldnt be as much strain on the server {Smile}

Ohh, didn't think of that.

Yes, that would be quite sexy; that way vForums gets money in, as well as the feature being implemented. {Smile}

If Ross expects to be able to support this, let alone make money off it, there are some things people will have to pay for. xD

I think two plans would work nicely. One basic plan for free members, with not many stats [basic, general info] and then for paid members things like "Board Activity" and "Countries Visiting" and whatnot. {Smile}

I get something like that all free, from statcounter.com, it gives me Browsers, came from, exit from, popular pages, search engine wars EX: Google yahoo etc, Country/State/City/ISP, visitors path, length of visit, plus many more.

EDIT:
The system Stats:

As I stated before, I am well aware of third-party stat services available. However, as I also stated before, none would be as flexible and integratable with the system as having it built-in.

Oh ok. But I love this stat system, works very good to my taste. And if we have to pay for some of the features, I most likely wont be using that part if it gets implemented.
