PM link placement - Posted By slip (slip) on 8th Jan 08 at 2:37pm
I think it would be much easier for people to send PMs if the PM link appears in the miniprofile than only at the top right of the profile section.

It's on my to-do list to enable the use of contact icons (PM, email, MSN etc.) in the mini-profile.

Just to note, this will be included in the next update. I've just got to work out what links to use for google talk and msn.

By links do you mean to start a conversation with the person, such as Yahoo/AIM?

Either start a conversation with or add to your contacts list. I know typing "gtalk:" into the address bar opens google talk, I just can't work out how to get it to add a contact from there.

Edit. I've found the one for MSN. Just seems to be google that either doesn't allow it or just doesn't publicise it.

Hours of searching and I've finally found it. Who would think it'd be so hard to find. Maybe google should consider adding it to their documentation {Tongue Out}

gtalk:chat?jid=user@domain

Anyway, in the next update links for all IMs and to PM will be shown in the users mini profile. They won't have any images by default but they will be setup in such a way to make it relatively easy to do via CSS if users want to.

Hey Ross, I'm pretty sure the MSN one only works in IE; so you might want to check that. {Wink}

Given Microsofts history, that wouldn't surprise me {Tongue Out}

{Tongue Out} For FF, I think just an alert box with their MSN address would work fine. {Smile}

I've gone for a prompt box so that the user can copy the address {Smile}
