Link requires registration. {Wink}

Most forum systems have this feature [except Proboards]. I'm fine with this suggestion, provided members have the ability to disable it, and if it doesn't link to hidden boards.

If it were implemented, I'd rather it remained vague. For example "Viewing Topic in Suggestions", "Using the PM System", "Viewing a members profile", "Searching posts" etc.

Yeah that's what it's like on that page. Like replying to topic in General board, etc.

What about a "viewing topic" one? I know YaBB use one where it shows which members are viewing the thread like so:

It's ones like that which I feel invade a members privacy. I wouldn't any member who visits the forum to see what I'm reading {Unsure}

I agree, I don't want people knowing what I'm reading..

I think Ross' suggestion before was fine! {Smile}

Eh, I meant like reading in the Board, not the thread.. which it would kinda be compromise, not too detailed, not too vague...

Yeah, i can see how it can get a bit intrusive. {Unsure}

Oy. I'd see people glued to that. "Are they reading my thread? Are they replying yet?" I don't like doing that.

This topic has been sitting here so long its time we did something about it {Wink}

If this were to be implemented, who would you want to be able to access it (just staff, just members or everyone)
Would you want guests to be shown in the list as well as members?
To what degree should users be able to hide themselves in this list? Should it work off of their 'invisible' status or should this be kept as a seperate 'hide activity' option?

Re: Who's there? - Posted By Marc (cr0w) on 9th Jun 08 at 11:31pm
I think that a member should be able to choose whether their activity is visible, as well as the level of vagueness regarding their activity.

Vague: "Viewing Thread", "Viewing Board", "Using Messaging Features"
General: "Viewing Thread in General", "Viewing General Board", "Sending a Message"
Specific: "Viewing Thread: Privacy", "Viewing General Board", "Sending a Message to Ross"

How about Number views instead, like:

Board name
Some description led by: staff member name
Sub Boards
- number of views today XX

Unless I misunderstand, this is quite unrelated to what we're talking about. {Tongue Out}

Actually no its not, instead of showing the user names in the board show numbers instead; like:

Once a system has been put in place to log user activity (for this who's where thing) I'll be able to consider showing the number of viewers in each board. But lets concentrate on this suggestion first {Smile}
