I decided to use the event panel via the admin panel. I added a new one (the only one) and got a confirmation:

Your event has been added to the calendar

(Shouldn't that have a period at the end?)

And the mini preview it gives has the administrator listed as a guest. Was this intended?

All the general issues with text inconsistencies are being addressed. I've not yet got to that section but will do eventually.

Showing it as a guest will be fixed with the next upgrade {Smile}
