It redirects me and tells me to choose my birth year, even though I entered it.

It wants two digits on the quick register, four on the register page I'm redirected to.

Hmm, which browser are you using? I can see the very tip of the third Y, but just barely; I'm guessing it's a difference in the way the widths are being read.
