Now that we have the details for this competition sorted out I thought it'd be a good idea to put up a new announcement with everything in one place.

What is this?
This competition is a chance for designers, coders and forum creators to show us what they can do by creating a skin for use by all new vForums.

Who can enter?
Anyone is welcome to enter. You can either enter as an individual or as a team.

Maximum Entries
No user should be involved in more than 3 entries. The only exceptions to this are any coders filling requests in the coding boards who may provide codes to as many skins as they want, provided this is their only involvement with the skin.

Deadline
All skins you wish to enter into the competition should be PMed to me (Ross) by 8:00pm GMT on the 14^th 17^th of February. Unfortunately entries entered after this time will not be accepted. In addition to this, no further modifications may be made to the skin after this time.

How to Enter
The skin you wish to submit should be placed onto a test forum where there is no identification as to who the forum is owned by. This includes no "copyright" messages, not having your name in the forums URL and not having the images hosted on an account with your name in the URL.
Once you have done all this, the URL to that forum should be PMed to me with the words "Skin Competition Entry" in the subject.
If your skin is selected as one of the winners you will be asked to provide the following:
- A blank banner (no forum name on it)
- A blank menu button (split into 3 sections: left, middle & right)
- A zip file containing all images used (optional)

Requirements
- All coding must work in the following browsers: IE6, IE7, Fx2 and Opera 9
- Forum should not lag when on slower Internet connections/computers
- You must not reveal to anyone outside of your "team" which entry belongs to you.

Voting
All voting will be done via a poll here on vForums Support. Depending on the number of entries received, this will most likely be done as two polls, each lasting a week with the forums who received the lowest votes being eliminated after the first poll.

Prizes
The top 3 skins will be made available to all new and current forums.
In addition to this, the winner (or winning team) will be given custom titles and 4 ad-free credits.

I will get a concept drawn up, pho will design, and samus and dreg coding.. rofl

I won't be entering, but I am happy to upload images to my site keeping them anonymous. (PM me or email me a zip file) I'll unzip them all and upload to a /skinname/ directory or something random like /0315/ or /notross/ =P.

But seriously. I'll keep them anonymous,and my load times are pretty fast with BigWetFish. ^_^

^ only problem with that is that you'll know who is which skin

Yeah, but I'm a 3rd party source, and not entering as I have no graphical skill. Only skill of content. And that test password I gave Ross for my test site is actually my main password

I don't care though. Up to user will keep it up as long as they want

Hmm, I gotta read their ToS again, I have one for Myspace, and one for forums, and very very very old ones, that are holding onto classified pictures, for an old forum of mine. That I may bring back, and use it on here.

At least they did drop the 18 yr rule to 16 now it's at 14 years old I think oO.

Like how on certain sites, when you submit a form the buttons get disabled; something like that, except with group images.

Pretty much. It'll most likely sway my vote if I'm debating between two skins of near equal attraction.

I might have a bit of a header concept going if I can place some colors into it nicely.

Been too busy though. Just got a new phone, moving, have to design parent's business' website. I'll have it ready though.

Slip made a skin, but I said it was rubbish so made him do it again... he's making another. He said it would be done by today... but I haven't spoken to him yet!

I haven't started yet, but thats how I get things done. Last minute.

I might drop-out now. It'd take me awhile to create a sweet skin in 8 Days.

So far I have a concept for the concept of the header. It looks pretty good

That would be so awesome. If you could extend it for Presidents Day too that would be even more of a pwn since I have no school that day either.

Ye, I think extending it so submissions have to be in by Sunday would be fine... Then people can work on them on saturday/friday evening... Finishing them off.

I dont have a coder, my forum is basic, Im just giving it a shot, if I win I win I lose I lose.

I know I don't stand a chance against Slip when he has Wrighty coding. The designs may look good, but without coding designs are nothing.

Yeh, I dont stand a chance neither, me I am 1 in a million of chances of winning, but I am staying strong ^_^, thats what builds character.

I'm almost finished but I need one code, and I'm not very happy with it but no time to fix it up =/

The skin is due today, but if you think you can get a skin done in less than 12 hours, then go for it.

Thats the problem so far, Not much premade codes because vForums has just started and not many coders yet. Just Ross , cr0w and wrighty.
So that was probably the reason you didnt get as many as you did.

I know I am done, ^_^. I decided not to move that one other skin to the competition, even though I think it would have had a chance, just didn't feel like it

I have PMed Ross Mine & Slip's Entry. It's achieved what we wanted.

Cool, cant wait to see it ^_^ It is probably way better then everyones skin with you and slip working on it, but It doesn't hurt to try.

Remember, there will be more than one winning prize, so even if your skin isn't the best of all the submissions, you could still win a top spot.

I know Marc, But still Wrighty will win the best prize But who knows, I guess we will have to wait til the voting starts.

calm down... Ross does have other things to do!

I know , I just can't wait to see some of these cool entries.

There's a few features regarding polls I'd like to implement before I put the poll up. I did mean to do them before the competition ended but never got around to it. The time just flew past so quickly

So if anyone hasn't quite finished, this can be treated as an unofficial extention. We'll also accept any entries which aren't fully coded yet and are still mainly in image format as I know a lot of strain has been put onto the few coders we have.

I could get a big concept done which could later be turned into a skin. Could I submit that?

Concept as in a base of what it would look like with codes and images, just not on the forum itself.

I'm pretty sure that that's what Ross is saying; if you have a skin that you want to submit that you don't have the coding resources for, make up a concept and submit that.

The drawing looks pretty nice, but I still need to convert it to Photoshop so my entry might be in tomorrow.

( I'm getting puppies tomorrow. )

A basic skin is fine I guess. But submitting only a concept image is unfair imo - esp for those who have slogged to put together a working skin.

It will be duely noted slip that people have spent hours and hours working on a skin. A coded skin is always much better than an image, because you can see features etc...

I'm almost certain any concept I put together will be beaten by what you and Wrighty have made.

Even if that was the case, there is more than one slot available for the default skin so even if it were 2nd best it would make the cut

I am going to be coding Blanka's Skin. Seth if you PM me a concept, I will code it depending on the complexity of it etc... Make sure it is 100% complete though with guest & member views!

I've not yet locked the forums so that is absolutely fine I'll post some more details about when the poll will go up and when editting will be disabled on the entries once I know what's happening
