Very nice, I like the 2nd one better because the text makes it look better.
The orb is awsome, like the orange.

You've got to make the orb look more 3D-ish than flat. Good work though.

Why does everyone add a crack? It takes away the 3D from it.
Honestly, you would of been better off without the crack. If you are going to add a crack you have to remember to apply depth to it, make it look like it's a crack turning. A crack on a sphere doesn't make a straight line, it has to curve when the sphere curves and some of it is going to be faded and darker and blurred and all those nice effects.
Other than that nice job.

Thanks. I'll try taking the crack off.

I think it look spretty good.
- I think you should extend a gloss a bit more. I think I know the tutorial you followed (if you followed one), and it is aimed at making a cheap looking orb fit only as a minor detail. As the focal point, aim to be a tad more realistic.
- The cracks can be incorporated, just don't have it touch the edge. Have you taken any art classes before? Basically, the rule of 3d is you can add anything to the object as long as it doesn't touch the edge.
Nice work.

The only thing I can suggest is to brighten up the orb a bit; make it draw some more attention to itself.

Those orbs are pretty sweet. Good job on those.
