Flooded Basement - Posted By Michael (wrighty) on 21st Jan 08 at 4:52pm
Ok, so yesterday we realised that our basement is flooded... about 4-5 inches of water... YEY!

So rang the insurance etc... someone will be round to unflood it today! (equally as good! {Tongue Out} )

Well they came, and guess what? They wont pump out the water until the source of the water is worked out AND fixed... Oh and to top it off the water is now touching the boiler, meaning we have to turn that off... meaning no heating... >.<

Lucky my room has an electric heater! ^_^

Now... to fix it we need a builder... not that hard I hear you say when I live next door to and used to work for one. However, when you have to ring one that's in Manchester and doesn't answer, it's a slight problem.

So... we're ringing this company and they haven't answered... which means they wont be able to get in contact till tomorrow... which ALSO means they wont come till Wednesday... Which means the water will be there till the weekend.

Oh and to make it more fun... the water has both live & dead frogs... and a hell of alot of our stuff... a computer, TV, boxes full of stuff... all that is now destroyed and will now have to be thrown away. Meaning I'll have to spend my weekend (or some other time) trying to clear it all into a skip.

And the water level has gone up today to about 7 inches... Aren't we just so damned lucky?

Did I mention that the water may start to stink and become hazardous? Well it might... Stupid company refusing to pump it out until it's 'safe' How can builders work IN water? {Unsure}

Oh well... Fun time for me being on the phone 24/7 now trying to get the builders.
