Has there been anything you have seen, or anyone you have seen that had so much potential, but all of a sudden the project ended? Or the person just quit?

Re: Potential - Posted By XeroCint (kai) on 6th Jan 08 at 4:28pm
Everything I do unfortunately o,o
Everyone says I have wonderful potential, but I don't apply myself. Which I don't. It's not that I'm lazy, I'm just not motivated. Everything I do people put it down because I am young. Which the projects and ideas are great, but people just don't believe they can happen because I am young

Kinda me, I have a lot of potential ( Or at least thats what I think ) of being a great designer but I just don't try much anymore.

Re: Potential - Posted By slip (slip) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:03pm
I procrastinate a lot - kills a lot of motivation {Unsure}

Me too. Doesn't help the only time i have a creative burst is like 1-2am {Sad}

Re: Potential - Posted By Michael (wrighty) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:06pm
ha... I work at my best during the night, by which time I'm too tired to do anything, so I say: 'I'll do it later' which means never.

When I finish school, it's back with nocturnal Wrighty! {Cheesy}

Re: Potential - Posted By slip (slip) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:07pm
lol me is a night person too -- I tend to become really active from 6pm onwards {Tongue Out}

Re: Potential - Posted By Marc (cr0w) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:08pm
My Science teacher likes to yell at me for being "lazy". {Tongue Out}

She always says "You're the smartest student in the class, and you have great potential. But you're lazy. You don't do the assigned work, and that makes people who actually have to try hard to succeed angry, because if you put just a little bit of effort into what you do, you would have a 96 in this class rather than a 36."

But she's wrong; I'm not lazy, I'm just not motivated to do the work. Nowhere in the job that I'll be doing when I'm older will I need to know how lightning is formed, or how an atom can become an ion. >.<

Wait till you hit pointless stuff such as quarks, and baryons, leptons, mesons... that stuff is a pain in the ass... and when will anyone use the photoelectric effect? O.o No I don't care what happens when you shine light at a piece of metal.. cause I wont be doing that later!

Normally about 8 pm for me... then I'm super active.. I could do anything, code a whole forum in a night I did once! {Tongue Out} Was fun! ^_^

Re: Potential - Posted By Graham (amusedtodeath) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:17pm
It does annoy me when people confuse "laziness" with "no motivation". My parents do a lot {Sad}

Re: Potential - Posted By Michael (wrighty) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:19pm
Same here... they say I'm too lazy... but I just aint motivated to do the work. I'm more motivated to sit here and code a site or somethign, cause I get something out of that straight away.

Re: Potential - Posted By Marc (cr0w) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:30pm
I usually work best from about 1am - 5am. That way, I can just sit in my room in peace, with no one bothering me, no cars on the street, no neighbour's kids running up and down the stairs non stop for an hour [>.<], just my music, some energy drinks, and 3 bags of chips. {Grin}

Re: Potential - Posted By slip (slip) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:34pm
I love doing that as well - I usually start off at 11pm when everyone else is off to bed and go on till 3am {Tongue Out}

Re: Potential - Posted By Michael (wrighty) on 6th Jan 08 at 7:35pm
Yup, it's when everyone's in bed that I work best too... you know you're not going to get disturbed too... also, the rest of the house is cold, and my room is warm, so that's another reason to stay in here! Smiley

I'll do that sometimes during school; if I have a large assignment due he next day, I'll go to sleep at 4pm, wake up at 1am [only time I ever get more than 6 hours sleep. {Tongue Out} ], then work on the project all morning & head to school. {Smile}

Neither one of my parents are artists so they really don't understand me. They think its weird I can spend an afternoon staring at Photoshop when they can't do it for more than 30 minutes.

I'm constantly called lazy by all my family because I spend my time designing. I don't see how I'm that lazy if I'm the person who most of the time gets most work done.

The whole late night thing is the same with me. I've grown to enjoy being up late a heck of a lot more. My mom always tells me that there is things that there isn't anything I can't do at night I can do in the morning but its entirely wrong. I could get a website designed by staying up from 11PM - 5PM, but in the morning I'd be to tired, I wouldn't feel right because I just woke up, I wouldn't be able to concentrate and it goes on and on.

One of the things I'm going to love when I move to a dorm for college is the freedom. I'll be able to stay up till whatever time I want, the decision will be mine and the only person who would yell at me would be a possible room mate.

Re: Potential - Posted By ashkir (ashkir) on 7th Jan 08 at 2:40am
Agreed, xD. I had people like that. That is what is wrong with our schooling systems, they try to teach us in masse when some of us don't feel challanged at all. They gave me an IQ test I was smarter then my chemistry teacher before. They handed me a book, and asked me to ace a test, I did.

But no challange means nothing. I only excelled in my senior year of English and the librarianism because I felt challanged in them.

Re: Potential - Posted By slip (slip) on 7th Jan 08 at 8:00am
tricky I totally get where you're coming from -- nobody understands web design at my home either and I'm warned everyday that if I am not asleep by 12am then the computer will get dismantled. But I think they;re actually scared to do that because I would go berserk {Grin}

Re: Potential - Posted By Oracle (corez) on 7th Jan 08 at 6:55pm
My family doesn't know that I design yet, but they always ask me what I do and sometimes speculate, they're totally of most off the time. {Tongue Out}

I guess I do have potential it's just that when I start on something and when it doesn't work out so well I just dump it and just try something easier. My PS folder is filled with unfinished psds. <.<

Re: Potential - Posted By slip (slip) on 7th Jan 08 at 7:56pm
My PS folders are dumped with over 200 unfinished premade templates {Grin}

Haha, i'm similar - countless PSD files sitting around awaiting completion {Sad}

Re: Potential - Posted By XeroCint (kai) on 7th Jan 08 at 11:43pm
lol, It's a designer thing I suppose, cause same here

Re: Potential - Posted By tricky.cb (crazyblue) on 8th Jan 08 at 11:21pm
If I start something and I know I can finish it, it gets finished. If I don't think I'll finish it it gets scraped, no psd saved. =/ I have like 100+ psds but they are all complete.

Nobody know i code either, i think most of my friends in RL don't even understand what i do XD Ah well, For me too, at night i'm ready for anything >=]

I have SOOOO many codes i haven't released XD most of them i used sever-side, I'm too lazy to complete the ending and i never have time for much anymore. I'm just around vF cuz i love bugging Ross with bugs {Tongue Out}

Agreed. {Tongue Out}

My friends know that I'm good with computers, but only one of my real-life friends know what I actually do. {Tongue Out} The rest don't think much of it, until they need me to get around the school's computer blocks. >.<

I always login to my file manager, and look at all my unfinished codes, deciding whether or not to finish them. {Tongue Out} It's just, I'll do a project if it's challenging, but if it loses it's challenge part way through; the rest is just boring, and once again, I'm not motivated to complete it. {Unsure}

Forms are what I hate most; especially when doing a mass upgrade. Have to create 20 forms, then 20 pages for those forms, then put all the required security checks on the next page, do some tests, find security flaws, fix them up, try again. {Sad}
