So, in case you hadn't noticed, Christmas is in about 6 weeks. I don't know about you guys, but this year's just flown by for me...but that thread will be coming mid-December. (You know you're cool when you plan a thread you're going to make a month from now. )
Anyway, my brother asked me last week what I wanted because he's doing his Christmas shopping early this year, and I decided I would do the same. I was considering putting aside a day next week to set up our Christmas tree, but when it's 12 degrees and sunny outside there's no way the Christmas tree's going up -- it just doesn't feel right, regardless of the time of year.
I figure it's still too early to share wish lists and whatnot, so pretty much my question is about your "preparation schedule", haha. When is your tree going up? Are you going shopping early, or the week before? How all-out does your family go with decorations and such?
12 degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit? if Fahrenheit i wouldn't wanna live there brrr. if celsius, i wish i was there :/
anyways, my family usually puts the tree up after thanksgiving (black friday) when we get back from shopping of course (though i hate shopping on black friday, some dude stole something from our cart last year, bastard). but we usually decorate the tree 2 days after putting it up because were to lazy . then it goes down after new years (though last year it went down in march, but that's another story) . all our shopping is done on black friday (50% off why not?). but we don't decorate that much, just a few ornaments on the tree and that's it .
Well my room is on the 7th floor of an apartment building facing a major road, so I figured I'd get some lights for that... I got two light sculptures because they were on sale at Canadian Tire, plus an electric timer so it doesn't stay on all day... one of them is up & lit already (now clearly visible from said road), the other one I'll put up a bit later in the month...
I got a few friends telling me they like that I have decorations up this early, and others telling me it's too early. But oh well... it's staying there xD
I don't know when my parents are putting up decorations around our house though. I'm not going to be seeing it until less than a week before Christmas anyway
As for shopping... haven't really been thinking about it yet...

Celsius. Feels oddly warm for this time of year. Marc, when's the snow coming again?!

Haha, you should make the trip back before the snow hits...although with how this winter's turning out, that might still be possible the week before Christmas.
As for when it's coming, I think the 14-day trend said the 21st or something. I dunno, just check my Facebook; I usually upload the screenshot the day before.

orly? I love driving in crappy weather conditions (especially snowstorms) ... makes things a bit more challenging & interesting. And it's not like I get away from driving much anyway because of my part-time job....

Haha, yes; what better way to spend a holiday than to turn a 6 hour trip home into a 12 hour trip home.

Meh... I'm in Ottawa for my Winter work term, so as long as I'm home by Christmas I'm happy
