Time we had some serious discussion here![]()
If you don't know, Benazir Bhutto was a Pakistani politician who had twice been Prime Minister of Pakistan, but had a line of (since withdrawn) corruption charges laid against her. She was assasinated on the 27th Dec after leaving a PPP Rally (party she was a leader of), only 2 weeks before the General Election, where she was running and tipped to win. It is believed that Al-Qaeda have claimed it was they who carried out the assasination
Now, this can have a lot of repercussions - what do you make of the situation? Bhutto was an ally of the US (i believe) and there are already widespread riots throughout Pakistan. Personally, i wouldn't be surpsied if the country goes into meltdown and we see a civil war![]()

Civil war is something that I think will happen. As far as I have seen it, the riots have escalated more and more recently...
I think it's good that her son, has said that he will seek revenge, only through politics, and not through violence.
Also, if I recall correctly, she was shot first, and failed to kill her, and then there was the suicide bomber, correct?

The exact cause of death is vague, from what i've read - the main reason seems to be from a gunshot wound, but others are saying that the result of a blast meant she banged her head (she was waving from a sunroof at the time) and fractured her skull. I think her (seemingly very corrupt) husband has refused a post-mortem...so whether it's mis-information, a cover up or something else just remains to be seen![]()
Ahh yes, I read about this a few days ago. I don't know, our whole world's getting worse and worse. We need a new government system; democracy just isn't working.![]()

We might need a debate board. o.O
(sorry about my blurt)
I don't pay attention too much to the news so I really don't know what is going on in Pakistan other than the election, her death, and her son taking her spot.
I saw this on TV then I walked away shouting "Our world sucks!" and thought of a design but never got to it![]()
But it seriously sucks that people who can make the difference and change things get shot.
Her son was given her place in the party in her will, and he's just 19 O__o. From what I know he insisted that if the election went ahead the riots would stop, but today it was announced they will be postponed until February.
All I can say: Not Good News.
If I was asked by my father to take over my mothers job I don't know how I'd answer it if she was that big of a political figure. Hes no where near through college how could he handle that big of a job? He'd need some major back up.

His dad is running it for the time being until he has completed his studies, but he's not exactly the most straight edge person in the world![]()
This will go on for some time![]()
Hes 19, of course he isn't the most strait edge person. As long as he knows how to handle it once he's done with school everything should go fine unless theres more assassinations/shootings.
This obviously had more effect in the UK.. right..?

No, his dad is the one that could be the problem - he's got a lot of pull over the PPP elite and is, as my friend Alan put it "spectacularly corrupt".

It has repurcussions all over the world - Bhutto was an ally of the west, and it's surprising how little the western countries (in particular the US and UK) have said about it. Probably they know it's now a ticking time bomb![]()
I don't think you can say this is going to have more affect on one place because it can dramatically change. Just look at some of the past wars, they influence tons of people.
