Well so my last and only working hard drive has failed on me. So I do not hav a computer anymore. I have so many issues with my laptop it's not even funny.

I dont think ive seen anyone with such a shoddy machine as yours is

If you've got the budget (~$75, maybe $115 w/ RAID controller)

Seagate Barracuda 160GB get two of these and set them up in RAID 1. A lot of motherboards have some standard RAID set up now; if not, you'll have to spend about $25-40 on a RAID controller card.

All I need is 6 or more dollars to send out my 250GB hdd to western digital. Then they will send me a new one. I have 3 years of warranty. I got an I/O error. Don't really know how it happened all I know is that my RCT moniter blew out and my laptop shut down with it. Think it shut the breaker off on the circuit strip. And when I put my computer to s-video to my tv I had problem Starting it up and it said that I had an I/O error.

I'm with Graham on this, you seem to be having more problems than anyone that I know of... :/

You might want to make sure it's an error with the HDD. From the description you're giving me, it could easily be a problem with the motherboard.

Michael - yeah. I Blame the house I live in. If you knew the things we experianced you'd be shocked.

maren - I do have a problem with the mobo. Ubuntu and windows freeze up when ever I shut windows down improperly, the boot screen with safe mode comes up and the counter freezes if I press any button internal and external keyboard. On ubuntu, when trying to select a language on the first start it freezes like windows does on new and old hard drive. So I beleive it's the mobo.

Tim - haha. I wish. But don't have money. and I will be getting a Linux machine instead of a windows one. I'll probably have a dual boot with winxp for iTunes.

Buddy, honestly it does come down to getting a new computer. I've told you before when you were explaining the problem to me that your motherboard is going out. Its a matter of time before it goes out completely. In the mean time, it is going to just keep shorting out your hardware

I suggest you have a look at Laptop Magazine's Best Laptops of 2009 when considering your next purchase.

When the motherboard is messed up, you should not be using the machine because, as Broken said, it will just screw up your other hardware. In a desktop, you have it a little better because you only need to replace the motherboard and possibly the processor. Choosing carefully, you can even save the RAM. No such luck with a laptop.

I would, however, try to do something useful with the parts of the laptop you have left, instead of junking it all. Maybe you can find something cool to do with the keyboard. I wouldn't be surprised if you could hawk the battery on eBay. You might be able to salvage the DVD drive and fashion an enclosure around it with a SATA to USB converter. Otherwise it'll probably all end up burned in a field in China, deplorable as that reality is.

DVD drive is broke too. xD broke the day after my warranty expired. Actually ALL my problems happened after warrenty. Funny thing us, is that my phone, mp3 players, DVD players tape players and TV's break after the warranty. All our electronics break.

I think your only solution might be to stop buying technology. It is clearly self-destructing by your very presence.

Well, knock-on-wood for my iPod touch, PS3, and my HDTV are working 100% good.

Surprising. iPod touch and PS3 and HDTVs cost more then decent laptops that can last a few years.

We got my little brother one of those 250 buck laptops, and he's been using it since he was like nine. He's twelve now.
