Epic Fail - Posted By Marc (cr0w) on 23rd Jan 09 at 2:37am
Well, today was the last day of Semester One. Of course, this also means that today was the last day to have assignments handed in by.

In Computer Science, the last 2 months of the semester were spent on one project, worth 50% of our final grade. My partner and I decided to do random terrain generation.

We didn't get nearly as far as we wanted to with the project, but after speaking to my teacher at the start of the period today, he told us that even in our project's current state he would give us a mark in the high 80's (so an A+). He said he's more worried about how far we've come in our knowledge than the final project outcome.

So I decided to spend the period optimizing & commenting the project. Now, I would recompile and run the program every time I made a change, to make sure I didn't mes anything up. One thing I didn't know, however, was that the laptop I was using had decided to save all the changes I made, but not run them (instead it continued to run an old copy of the program without my knowledge).

So, turns out I optimized a little bit too much...in other words, I destroyed the project. {Tongue Out}

Here's what we handed in...pretty sexy, no? {Tongue Out}

Luckily my CS teacher is awesome, and so I emailed him asking for an extension. {Grin}

Anything like this ever happen to you?
