Car Accident - Posted By Marc (cr0w) on 1st Sep 08 at 11:04pm
Well, got into a car accident today. Nothing serious or anything like that, but it shook me up a little.

I was driving through a parking lot toward the exit, when a car starts to back up right in front of me. I quickly swerve to the side, and slam on the horn & brakes.

The other driver, off in her own world, completely ignores this and keeps backing up. She hits the front of our car, but rather than stopping, continues to reverse until her car is about 1/3 of the way across the front of ours.

She gets out, and I yell/ask her why she didn't pay attention to the horn. Her response? "Sorry, I didn't hear it."

Some drivers need their licenses revoked. {Unsure}

The back of her car; nothing but a few scratches.

The front of our car; not so lucky.

Wow sorry to here that.

She did not here? How can she not here? Horns are loud. Yeah I do agree with you, Some drivers do need their licenses revoked. If you could not here a horn, just imagine what else she could not here {Sad} {Unsure}

Gonna sue?

Sorry to hear that. It really makes you question how some people passed their tests in the first place {Unsure} It's one thing not to hear a horn, but another to not even be looking at what you're reversing into.

Aye, I really don't think she was looking. Because while we were exchanging information she pointed to the the parking space behind where her car was and said "were you pulling out of there?"

If she had been looking where she was going she would have seen me coming from the left, and wouldn't have had to question it.

Gonna sue?

Lawsuits are something that really anger me. What reason would I have to sue her? We exchanged information, no one got hurt, an her insurance will pay for it. The only reason I can see someone wanting to sue her in this situation would be greed, which is something that also really angers me.

It always makes me angry when you hear things on the news like "A homeowner had to pay $5000 because a child was climbing a tree in her yard and fell out." It was the kid's fault, he shouldn't have been there, the fact that the kid won shows how corrupt the law really is.

Went off topic there, but as I said, lawsuits really make me angry, unless if they have a valid reason that doesn't involve greed or revenge.

It was just a suggestion {Wink} I don't like lawsuits either, I do agree with you all people use lawsuits for is greed of money, and what not.

hmm, you wouldn't win even if you did sue. Besides, it'd probably cost about $600 or less at the panel beaters to fix that... Law suit would cost you a lot more.

However, I've nearly been at fault of a car accident :S lucky I slammed the brakes though, but, every driver has as well. O wells mate, things like that happen {Tongue Out} life continues in short.

One of the supports behind the bumper snapped, so it's not a simple beat-it-better situation; the whole bumper has to be replaced. So does a small panel above it, which (although it's hard to see in the image) also snapped out of place.

Not always..

My parents got into working with a Pizza Business and they were doing a bunch of stuff for them ( construction. ) We asked for a check for what we had done, and nothing. It came to weeks without getting a check so we eventually told them we would sue. That doesn't seem to greedy when it's hard earned money.

Yea, but, in cases like suing over something liek a kid falling out of a tree in your backyard, the parents of the kid sue you when it was clearly the kid's fault for being in your tree + he was trespassing prviate property

Thats greed

I know, but Darkmage said ALL people use lawsuits for greed and money. My parents didn't, sure it was for money, but it was hard earned money. Work had been done, and payment never went through. Sometimes you have to take such actions =/

Yea, I got that the first time. Should have worded my post better. I agree that if something like that happens a lawsuit should follow.

She looked to be just over 20; I'd guess 21 or 22.
