Today I went and got my birthday present; took the written test down at the DriveTest Centre and now have my level 1 license!![]()
I got 38/40 on the test, or 95%.![]()
Then when I got home I successfully pulled the car into the garage without smashing it!![]()
Does anyone here have their license? Getting it soon? Were you more nervous or excited when you got it?
Congratulations, Marc! I don't have my listens myself and don't plan on getting mine for a while cause I don't need it when I travel I take a plane or go with somebody else. I'd imagine I'd be nervous during the test, etc.
Also Marc, how did you feel when you were taking the test? Nervous? Was a parent watching over you? That make you nervous as well?
But, don't you kind of wish you would've smashed the car into the garage?
No no, the written test room is behind a big wall where the supervisor sits at the front and then there are rows of desks where others are taking the test as well.
The only thing that made me nervous was that the questions all had more than one answer, but one was the most correct; some were really close.
And haha, although smashing the car would've fun I don't think my mom would enjoy having to get a new car.![]()
Ah. Here we don't have a supervisor watching over, just a camera if the grader thinks something might happened. Though the staff there do walk by the testing area often. No no, the written test room is behind a big wall where the supervisor sits at the front and then there are rows of desks where others are taking the test as well.

I agree with that, Marc. My mom gave me all the tests with the answers marked for the State of California year 2008 (she has the ability to train to Class B license and Class C, and besides the high school I went to gave me about three different ones for the year 2005 in the year 2005 it is a high prompt study material). I looked over a few of the tests, not all yet, it is amazing. I also felt some of the questions contradicted each other.
So how long until you can drive solo?

Normally 12 months, but since I'm taking a gov't approved driver's training course that's reduced to 8 months.
Also, I'm writing my level 1 Motorcycle Licence test this Friday, and with that I can ride solo right away.![]()
I got my license about a month or two ago. Just got the ability to drive unsupervised after nine on Saturday.
Have my own car... A '95 Oldsmobile Achieva S series. My grandmother's old car.

I've had my G2 for almost 2 years now. You know what it means Marc, I'm too lazy to explain it. This term I drive myself every day to & from work. I'm going for my G (full license) on August 21st. Can't say I was that nervous. Need to brush up on my parallel parking skills though

Why didn't you go for your G earlier? You need only wait 12 months; why 24?![]()
I know that the restrictions on G2 are barely anything, but I think it'd be easier to just get your full licence right away.![]()

It kinda helps to have a car to practice with. Wasn't able to do that when I was at university. My parents were hogging both cars to themselves XD. And I took a bit too long booking it this summer >.<

Ahh yes, that's always a problem.![]()
I'll most likely get a used one for $1,000 or $2,000; as long as it runs and doesn't need much maintenance then I'm good.![]()
I've been driving for nearly a year now. It's good funI get to drive by myself in about 4 months time with basically no limitations (that concern me anyways).
I wasn't nervous when getting my licence, though, getting my provisional licence I'm going to be wetting myself when the driving inspector gets in the car with me and we go for a drive...
My mom loves that. I even got to ride with a few of the people (when they had a workload so they took 2 - 3 at a time) but mainly when she was testing the drivers who want a Class B license which is hard. She fails most of them for one thing...Must stop within six inches of the curb in a long vehicle. It's kind of hard. o_O.I've been driving for nearly a year now. My mom originally was practicing in a bus before that. She got it right for a few times in a row, a CHP officer walked up to her and told her to come with him. He stated himself a witness to the state and she got her Class B. :]
The Canadian system sounds far too complex(Yes Marc, i know you've explained it to me before) In the UK we apply for our "provisional" license (which means we can drive with an instructor, or with an adult who has held a full license for 3 years), and we take lessons until the instructor deems us competant enough to take our tests - first the theory, and once that is passed we have the practical. Once the practical is passed we get our full license and we're free.
I've been driving since last October. I don't have my own car yet, but i share a Vauxhall Corsa with my mum until i can afford one.
I've got until January to take and pass my practical test, otherwise I'll have to do the theory again. The problem is that I'm not motivated to do it. With current fuel prices, the amount of other taxes and not to mention the insurance, I really don't want to drive anywhereI'll have to get it sorted out soon though, before they make the tests more difficult

Hehe, my mom took me driving yesterday and I did horrible.
We went to a giant empty parking lot and I drove around trying to get a feel for the car; let's just say if the parking lot hadn't been empty there'd be a lot of smashed cars.![]()
I kept driving on the wrong side, kept parking diagonally over lines, kept makign my left turns too sharp and my right turns too wide...
But I suppose I can't expect myself to do that great my first time out.![]()
I drive my parent's vehicles around when ever I get the chance. I'm not a bad driver, but at times it takes me a bit longer to do something that an average driver would have no problem doing![]()
Great thing about where I live is that I had been driving illegally for ages before I was legally able to drive. I never experienced any of the stuff lol.
ummm..... RUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!! Get off and stay off the sidewalks!!!!! You just never know when Marc will come by and run you over!! LOL![]()
Just giving you a hard time Marc. Congrats.
