Everyone that lives in the US will get money back this year from the president. Something to do with the economy. I am getting $350. That's cool. My dad just told me.

Its called Stimulus Money, I am supposed to get I think 300 back, as I am my own dependent if I weren't my own Dependant then my mom would be getting 900 back instead of 600.

Yeah, me too i am not independent yet.

It's due to the US going in to recession. The government don't want that to happen and therefore they think giving money away will help to kick it back into growth etc... Too little too late I feel.

Spend it in the U.S. Not on things that will be going to Ross in the U.K. I don't get any because apparently according to my mom 'I don't send in a tax return.' My parents got like $1600 and they plan to spend it all xD

No, everyone gets it. . If you don't send in tax return you either get 300 or 350. I'll spend it on a new laptop .

I think that consumer spending is neither the cause nor the solution to our situation. It's Alan Greenspan's years of low interest rates and generally pro-borrowing mentality. Once people realize that you can't buy a $400,000 house with 5% down and a couple of $20,000 cars with $0 down and expect to pay it off on two $40,000/year salaries, things will start to improve.

I was supposed to get mine today, and it has not came yet the same with my mom and my moms friends.

Yeah, they are giving money back, but they're only doing it in hopes of you using the money to blow on more goods and sevices.

It's suppose to be to help you pay bills, pay for gas, food, and whatever else.

Also, I heard that only those who file tax returns will get it.

Correct you have to file a 2007 tax return.But if you owe taxes or back child support you will not recieve the check.Unless you owe less then what you are getting back.Since I'm married with 2 kids i get 1800$ from them.But since my second to the last number in my ss# is a 9 mine isn't getting mailed till july

Yay, just found out. I am getting my money back tomorrow.

Huh? I read that everyone get's it back. Whoever files taxes gets more than who don't.
